It's warming up around here. The kids have been swimming. It's too cold for me, but they love it!

Our family went to Caddo Lake. We had a wonderful time.
It was beautiful, much prettier than pictures.
The large Cypress Trees growing out of the water hung with Spanish Moss. The reflection off the water was as colorful as the trees themselves.
Julia and Thomas rented two canoes for everyone to use.
We all took turns rowing around the lake in between trees.
John fished with the kids. After an hour with no luck John went and dug up an earthworm.
Worm on hook, Anastasia got a bite as soon as her line hit the water. The first time she didn't know to pull on her pole to hook the fish, but with a few tips from John, she finally caught a fish.
At 6 o'clock in the evening we had reservations for a boat tour. We got there a little early just as the previous tour finished. We got to start half hour earlier.
After all the younger kids had their life jackets on, we took off in the pontoon boat.
Natalie really enjoyed the boat ride. Isn't she adorable all snuggled up next to her Daddy?
Jonathan spotted this snake sunning on a platform of Cypress knees. We also spotted an owl shortly thereafter. When we came back around, the snake was gone.
On the way back, Captain Ron let the kids take turns driving the boat.
We didn't see any alligators on the boat tour, so rather than disappoint, he invited us back to his home to see his alligator.
Captain Ron also showed us his baby ducks. They were so cute!

We had a very nice Easter weekend.
He is Risen!
On Friday we attended the Good Friday service where Annalyn, Julia, and Thomas sang in the choir. On Saturday we did tons of yard work where we also got a few fire ant bites/stings. The girls made chicken salad with the kids' dyed eggs for dinner that night and John and I slipped away on a date. We went to the Country Tavern where we had some awesome barbecue. After church on Sunday we took a family picture then headed up to Caddo Lake for the day.
More pictures to come of the awesome day at the lake.

Has anyone been to the South Carolina Coast?
I am researching a family trip out there and would love input.
Where did you stay?
What did you do?
Fave place to eat?
When is the best time to go?
I am looking for someplace off the beaten path. Less people, more private. A place where we could explore, bike, paddle board, hike, and be surrounded by nature.
I would love to read about your experiences.

I'm sitting here in a quiet house. My balcony door is open so I can listen to the rain and thunder... and the birds singing. It is a soothing sound. It calms my mind and soul.
Yesterday was a much busier day.
As I was helping William to check into the local GED testing facility after dropping Anastasia off at work, I got a call from Natalie's school. She was having loose stools and they wanted me to either bring her more pull-ups or pick her up. I opted to pick her up. Before I had left the GED building, I got another call about Nolan. His leg was bothering him and he was limping. Could I pick him up too?
Finally I left William to test and called the doctor's office on my way to pick up Natalie. I was able to get Nolan an appointment to have his leg checked out. I picked up both kids at two different schools and barely had enough time to take Natalie home and then head back out to take Nolan to the doctor.
On my way to the doctor I was trying to figure out how to juggle picking up William. I didn't think we would be finished at the doctor's office by the time I told William I would get him. But God took care of things. William called me before I got to the doctor so I was able to swing by and pick him up to go to the doctor with us.
The doctor said Nolan's pain is most likely just a pulled muscle but of course my mind wanders to things like arthritis or cancer. (Am I the only Mom that does this?) He wrote a note excusing Nolan from gym for the rest of this week. Hopefully that's all it turns out to be.
There are four sections to the GED. William took the math portion yesterday... and PASSED!

William, Sveta, and I went to the oil museum yesterday. It was very interesting and the displays exceeded my expectations. The displays included so much detail into the ways of life some eighty years ago. It was very cool learning about the oil boom in East Texas in the 30's.
William had so many questions.... He thinks we definitely live "better" now. We have such a variety of foods and our tools are so much more modern now, not to mention lighter in weight.
However, it would be cool to drive one of those antique cars.
In one of the buildings is an elevator ride. It gives the illusion that it is descending deep into the earth down to where the oil is.
The town exhibit was very realistic.
Even the horses looked real.
Now onto the next museum!
