Happy Birthday Big Boy!

Oliver has an infectious personality.  You can't help but feel joy when you are around him.  Each time he hears the happy birthday song and sees candles, he gets more excited than the time before.  Knowing this, I actually put five birthday candles on his cake even though he was only turning four.
Check him out blowing out his birthday candles!
Can you say ~~LOVE~~?

Happy Birthday and Father's Day

There is no question about it.  I think John is an amazing father and husband.  I'm pretty sure his kids feel the same way.  This is what they presented him with on Father's Day.
First a delicious breakfast.
Then a nice banner.
They were so excited, that they gave him his birthday present a day early.
He was thrilled.  Me not so much.  My first question to the kids was, "Did you by him a helmet too?"
For dinner, John barbecued tri-tip.
It was fantastic.
Here is me and my birthday man.
We made John his favorite cake-- German Chocolate.

Natalie enjoyed eating the ice-cream.

The joy it brought her was priceless.
Happy Father's Day!
And Happy Birthday!
With you in our life, there is much to celebrate!

Surprise! How'd They Pull This Off?

This afternoon John and I went out on a long date. We were going to see a movie, but ended up passing three hours just talking.   On our way home, Caleb called me to ask if he and his girlfriend Katie could take us out to dinner.  After asking a few questions, John and I said yes, and I really thought it would be just the four of us out to dinner.
Cars were parked in the back.  I had already had my birthday celebration.  I had already gotten gifts from everyone earlier in the week.
So imagine my surprise when I walked into the restaurant filled with friends and family!
I was totally caught off guard-- what an amazing surprise!
I was fine until I started looking around the room to see who was there.
That is when I began to cry-- happy tears.
It was all good!
My brother in law drove down from the Bay Area and my cousin who I had not seen in ages drove up from Murrieta-- not to mention everyone in between.

Thank you John for never making life boring.  You are the best husband!  Thank you kids for blessing me like you do.  You make this Mama so proud!  Thank you Mom for always supporting me.  Thank you Aunt Tanya for always being there.  Thank you Mom and Dad for being such amazing in-laws.  Thank you Uncle Jack, Tim and Diane, Steve and Kathy, John and Naomi, Jenny and Joe, Cousin Kathy, Jeremy, Katie, Olivia, Emily, Sandy, and Pauline.

I love all of you!

What I Thought Was my Birthday Celebration

This past week I turned 40.
No big deal.
However, my family made my day very special nonetheless.
I truly felt their love.

I asked for lots of pictures.

I didn't have to cook dinner.  Instead, my Mom headed up calzone central!

And Aunt Tanya kept things fun!

I got a really sweet card from John with promises for lots of quality time together which we did this morning discussing our family trip to Costa Rica next month.

Julia made me a nutty rum cake.
I got lots of help blowing out my candles.

I opened up lots of cards and sweet gifts.

It really could not have been a nicer birthday.  The day finished and I thought that was that.
