Happy Halloween

We carved pumpkins last night.

I made this funny face because of the way Dennis held up his pumpkin carver.

Anna almost started a pumpkin gut food fight .  I ended it though.

John and I are going to Belize in a few weeks to celebrate our 20th anniversary.  We are going a month and a half early because it is the off-peak season making it affordable for us.  Anyway, Rachel surprised us with a few things for our trip.  She got John this Duck Dynasty hat because she thought where we are going is going to be cold and that John was a big fan.  The thought was sweet.  And he seriously considered going to work today dressed up as a Duck Dynasty fan.  :)
 Jonny wanted me to paint his face.... again.

At the end of the night, the mask peeled right off-- it was pretty cool.

Annalyn dressed up as a nerd, and Oliver was a little goldfish.
Nolan liked the spider I face painted on him.
Caleb had to work, but he had me do a wild hairstyle.
I just adore this picture.
And oh my-- I could eat him all up!

Galina and Annalyn
Paul was a king.  I loved his homemade crown!
Dennis had on a costume, but then changed into a cape with a blue lightsaber.  Some guy guessed that Dennis was ObiWon Kanobi just because he had a blue lightsaber.  Him knowing that made Dennis' day.  Alex was Hercules.
Anastasia was a gypsy.

Here is a picture of Adam hugging Annalyn.  Adam dressed up as a loving big brother college student heading off for a mid-term.
And here I am dressed up as a bubble blowing Mama.
John stayed home and passed out candy.  I took the kids trick-or-treating.  This was what all the kids got after one street.  Sveta's, Jonny's, and Andrew's bags' were so heavy that they wanted to go home so we called it a night after an hour.  Still, the kids had a fun night and ended it watching a movie.

Two Month Mark

The scale is my friend.  I made my goal of twenty pounds in two months.  Lost that is.  I can hardly believe it.  I officially weigh less than Adam now!
Last Friday night I hurt my back at the gym.  I thought I would be down for at least a week.  But by the third day I was feeling like my old self so I went back to the gym for an easy workout.   John thinks it's because I am in better shape.  Just one more reason to stay in shape.
My end goal is get back down to 150 lbs.  As of today, I only have 13 more lbs. to go!  I hope to lose five of that by November 16th. :)
I think I can!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here is my current game plan.
Go to the gym four times a week doing cardio and weight lifting.
Eat 1200-1400 calories a day.
Drink plenty of water.
Take vitamin supplements.
Eat lots of fiber and vegetables.
Avoid white bread and sugar.
Indulge once in a while with a homemade brownie or cookie.
Continue to eat my all time favorite snack-- 10-12 almonds with 1/8 cup dried cranberries at least once a day.
Our Erupting Volcanoes
This week we learned about the volcano Thera that erupted and sank.
So... we built two volcanoes and made them erupt.
The Plaster of Paris was quite difficult to work with that I nearly gave up.  Thankfully the kids finally managed to sculpt it into things that actually resembled mountains.
After they dried, the kids painted them.
This evening before John and the kids went to BSF, we made them erupt with vinegar and baking soda and other household items.
Each time they erupted, I was told that I jumped.
The kids thought the project was really cool.
So did I, since I never thought in a million years I would be a homeschool Mom building volcanoes that actually erupt.
Artists
Anastasia has been painting her heart out.
After savoring a pomegranate here and there, we finally harvested them all.
They were very sweet and delicious!
Today we did another group art project.  The cooperation and patience that the kids displayed was better than last.  For some of the kids, it's like they have writer's block but for art.   But with a simple project and a little prompting, their creativity is flowing.
Today's project was with mixed media-- oil pastels and water colors.
