Hearing Aids and Essential Oils

Wooo-hooo! Both girls have their driving permits.  Now if I could only convince Rachel that she is not getting her own car.

I heard back from the ENT about Nolan.  He will need a hearing aid.  I knew this was a possibility so I wondered if our insurance would cover it.  Rather than call the insurance directly, I asked around and everyone told me that most insurances don't cover hearing aids.  Since Nolan would most likely need them and not having them wasn't an option, I began researching the internet for different options that would help offset the high cost.  Then it dawned on me that I should just find out from our insurance directly.  Turns out that hearing aids are covered 100% through our insurance.   In just a few days he will go in for a fitting.  I am so excited for Nolan!

I have started using essential oils.  The more and more I use them, the more I like them.  Peppermint is awesome for getting rid of headaches and cramps.  Tea tree oil is good for cradle cap and acne.  And I'll let you know if it gets rid of warts.  Lavender is working well for eczema, an helping the kids to relax in the evening.  Rosemary does seem to help make hair thicker.  I am positive that there are many other uses for essential oils-- please share how you use them.  I am hungry for ideas.

  1. I don't have an essential oil recommendation, but I do know how to get rid of warts. Apple Cider Vinegar! Pull a small piece of cotton ball (just big enough to cover the wart), dip it in apple cider vinegar, place on the wart and cover with a bandaid. Change every day. The wart will turn black and fall off completely! My daughter has had a terrible time with warts and we have done some pretty invasive procedures at the dermatologist office. NOTHING worked until we did this. She has never had a wart return.

  2. What a blessing to have Nolan's hearing aides covered by insurance! I love seeing the children blossom under your care.

Congratulations on seven years with Annalyn! She is a beautiful girl.

  3. Oregano oil is great at the first sign of a cold. Dilute with coconut oil and rub on the soles of your feet. A drop of peppermint on the shower floor will open up sinuses and relieve a headache (like you said). My daughter has a recurring cyst after 3 surgeries haven't been able to get rid of it. We are using Frankincense and it is slowly shrinking, praise God!

  4. We have tried about everything to get rid of my child's warts, including surgery. Finally, another daycare dad, a surgeon himself, suggested to apply egg-white to the warts several times a day (cover the wart completely) and within three weeks the warts were gone - they just became smaller and smaller - and never returned. I hope this works juat as well for your kids. Sibylle

  5. Lavender is also good for stress-related headaches BUT shouldn't be used if you also feel like you might throw up as it is likely to make you actually do so.

If you grow thyme in the garden (or in a pot) you can make a tea out of it. It helps with 'lady issues'.

    These are my personal experiences.

  6. You have a beautiful family!! I just started reading your blog and I find it incredibly inspiring!!

  7. Oregano oil...it got rid of warts that I fought for ten years! Miracle.

  8. Lavender is great on burns, but be careful it is true lavender and not a hybrid (which will make the burn worse!).

Peppermint is for nausea, put it on the feet.

I use young living oils and love them. Let me know if I can answer any questions for you.

  9. Oil of Cajeput(related to tea tree)
We use it over the lung areas to loosen gunk that causes the nagging dry cough. We stop coughing in about 15 min. LOVE IT! no dilution necessary unless you use it for days at a time. It can be drying to the skin but I've never had that issue.

It also helps prevent scarring among many other things. I use it on any wound to prevent infection also.

we got rid of a few warts using oil from a garlic capsule daily with a band-aid then soaking a bit in vinegar every 3(?) days. they were gone in maybe 2 weeks. they just kept shrinking, I think.

  10. Christine. Could You write a separate post about Christian music and what do Your children like to listen to? I'm not from US. Thanks ^_^

  11. Hi!I do not really use a lot of oils. But know people who do and they are very happy with using them. In Erie, a few people I know buy their oils at Chicory Hill, a small store and at Wegman's a large supermart . I have talked with the managers at both stores and they were very helpful. It is great that your son's hearing aids are covered by your health insurance .Locally I am hearing from more parents that they must pay out of pocket for hearing aids, extensive dental work and teeth braces ,because their insurance companies are no longer paying for them .Some insurance companies have high deductibles. Sometime the deductibles are so high that the family must really struggle to make the high deductibles payments.Good luck, Pat

  12. citronella essential oil as a mosquito repellent!
