You Have to Want It

Here are the latest art projects.  Pinch pots that were formed around cups to give them their shape. The individual pieces of each pot were scored and "glued" together with water.  Then the pots were fired, painted, and then glazed.
Each one is an in interesting piece!
Meet Dennis' dinosaur.  He is in for a long soaking.
Pretty soon he will be big and mean!
The perfect bath mate!

I knew Alex could do it!
Alex has been having some really rough days at school.  Really rough.  Sweep arms across the desk knocking everything to the floor, refusing to do anything, getting no work done all day, yelling at the teacher calling her mean, need to be carried to the bus or office kind of rough.
Consequences have become-- so not fun around here.
Standing in the corner-- that seems to be having some affect finally.  The screaming and whining-- well we are still working on that.
Thank you Lord for baby steps.
Maybe no more new gray hairs will pop up.

Alex is so capable.  Capable of being attentive... sweet... hardworking... helpful... loving.
When he wants.
It's up to him.
It doesn't matter that I want it.
He has to want it.
The Lord has a great big plan for my Alex.
And I can help him to live out that plan, but I can't make him.
So for now, we practice how to behave in the class.  And pray.
"Alex let's practice quietly sitting with your hands folded in your lap."
When I remember, this is what I have him do when I read a story at bedtime.

Thank you for voting for Smiles and Trials.  Blogging is the one thing I do for my enjoyment.  I don't get massages.  I rarely go for Starbucks.  I haven't scrapbooked in ages.  I don't do Bunko.  I don't run.  (How can that be fun anyway?) I don't watch movies except for kids' movies.
I blog.
It is my thing.  If you can't tell, I pour my heart into it.  I love to write.  The kids love to read it too.
It's my outlet.  It's my door to all of you who I have come to know through cyberspace.
My blog is my place to glorify God, journal about my family, and hopefully be an encouragement to others who should know-- they are not alone.

So it is the one thing I do... for me.

And by your voting for Smiles and Trials-- well it brings a smile to my heart.
Honestly, it feels nice.

So thank you.

And for all of you who haven't voted yet, or are finger trigger happy to hit the thumbs up button again--

You can do it here.

Or here.

Or here.

My finger trigger is ready today! :)

SO sorry Alex is having a hard time. :(
You are so right... you can lead him to the water, but you can't force him to drink.

Thought about you today driving home from my 8th doctor visit this week. My oldest was scheduled for surgery next Tuesday; he'll come home the same day. My youngest is headed for a major spinal surgery to help his cerebral palsy; lots of appointments and preparation. I am feeling pretty overwhelmed, and I thought about you. How on earth do you keep up with all your appointments and surgeries with your kids? The rest of the house is falling apart - laundry up to the eyeballs. Any advice? Thoughts? I "only" have 6 of 'em, but just my little guy has 7 therapy appointments a week, at a minimum, before doctors and other appointments are considered. Does ALex go to PT?

So glad to run into you again! I was reading your blog years ago, but I lost track of it. I just noticed it again at Circle of Moms. Your family looks beautiful!
