Smelly feet. Do your kids have them? I'm talking really stinky, overripe Gorgonzola in a ziplock baggy sitting in the sun stinky. Two of my younger boys have them. They wash. I tell them to change their socks daily. Honestly, that is a hit or miss. I am just happy that I finally got them to stop going outside in just their socks. For a period of time every single pair of socks my kids owned had holes in them. Now its the odor. Seems like we traded one problem for another.
Suggestions?

Two kids are running fevers. Galina last night, and now Jonny. Out of the blue. No other symptoms. Only like a big brother would, Andrew says, "Well your not going to get perfect attendance now."

Oh and a funny, really keeping it real story.
As the kids were getting into the car to go to their first BSF class with John (he's teaching this year!) Andrew and Jonny got into a fight over a bible. How ironic is that? Julia comes running in, "Mom, Andrew and Jonny are fighting over a book. With their fists and everything."
I of course imagine black eyes and fat lips. John gets to the garage door first. "Relax Christine. How else are they going to fight? With their fingers?"
John was right. I overreacted. Julia overreacted. The boys were fine.
Deep breath. Boys will be boys. And girls will be girls.

Christine, just a thought but it might be their shoes causing the problem. If they wear them all day their feet sweat, socks get wet, shoes are wet. The oder will come out of the socks in the wash but not the shoes. Over time it builds up. I'm pretty sure they have a powder or a shoe spray that you could use, just spray into the shoes every once in a while to kill any odor causing bacteria and help dry the shoes from being wet and sweaty. :) I figured the younger boys probably "play harder" than your older kids, feet sweat more etc.) Just a thought because we used to have to spray inside our work boots after working 14+ hours in steel toes everyday. :)
Love the stack of pancakes, they look like out waffles here. :)
Really really really glad that Dennis is on a nice bus now and that hes excited about his birthday party with all his friends. Hope he has a great time! (And that we get at least on pic of his special day!)

Do the boys by any chance have atheletes feet? Odor is caused by bacteria, so they may have it. Even if they don't, bacteria is obviously there because of the smell. I would maybe try tea tree oil. It's a natural anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-everything else. You could try rubbing a tiny amount on their feet (maybe mixed with a little lotion) and maybe also try putting some in a spray bottle with some water and spritz their shoes. This is totally off the top of my head, but I'm sure you can google stinky feet and tea tree oil and find something.
Try washing all of the socks in the hottest water you can with about 1 cup of vinegar. I do this with my husband's work socks, and it makes a really big difference in his foot odor at the end of the day. You can also have them soak their feet in a lukewarm container of water with some vinegar in it for a few minutes. Vinegar is a natural disinfectant and deoderizer, and it does not harm skin or clothing.
Hope it helps!
Mae sure they don't use rubber shoes that don't breath. My brother used to have the stinkiest feet when he wore his summer sandles or sneakers that were cheapo and didn't allow for much ventilation or drying.
White cotton sweat socks, leather shoes, odor-eating spray, and going barefoot as much as possible are how I dealt with my kids's stinky feet problem. I sprayed their shoes every night & washed them once a week.
My daughter's foot odor could kill so I'm also eager to hear of a remedy that works. And I voted!

I enjoyed reading all the advice you got about the foot odor. I agree with everything already said so I wont comment! I did get a laugh about the boys fighting over a bible and Johns comment. thank you for the giggle at your expense.
add white vinegar to the rinse cycle and also spray the feet and shoes with foot spray. white vinegar takes out onion smell so it should certainly take out foot smell.
When we were adopting in Ukraine my friends new daughters had the WORST smelling feet. We tried everything, finally I suggested soaking them in baking soda b& vinegar water and it worked!
I would also make sure they rotate shoes - at least two pair - to let the shoes dry out from the day before. And if the shoes are smelling then dust the insides with baking soda. Hey! It's suppose to take smells out of fridges, right? Why not shoes?
I also am a big fan of WHITE socks and bleach. Colored socks just don't seem to get as clean.
And of course, if it is athlete's foot, then they'll need some sort of spray or anti-fungal cream. But usually they'll complain that their feet are itchy or hot if it's that.
Good luck!
While we were still in Ukraine, our boy's feet stunk. We got rid of the orphanage socks, gave him new shoes and new socks - frequently - because his feet have grown about four sizes in the past two years - and we don't have that problem any more. So, maybe get rid of the socks and shoes and don't let them trade and check their feet for sores or bad toenails and stuff. It could be that they are barfooted all the time and may have contracted a fungus or something. Maybe an antifungal foot spray and have them wear socks all the time.
Do not let them wear their shoes without socks either. That is bad news.
A friend of mine suggested putting a dryer sheet in their shoes. My daughter.... sweet, pretty and girly has THE WORST smelling feet!!! That has worked for her shoes, but I love the vinegar idea! Thanks for the tip. And I will second the no shoes without socks. That is just asking for trouble!!
I use Gold Bond powder on them.
And, I voted!
Clothes pins - for your nose. That's all I've got!
When I actually had an office job, I wore tights a lot, and ended up with hideous smelling feet. Not good since I was a newlywed! I discovered that using B&B Works antibacterial hand lotion on my feet each morning worked really well. No more day job, but it's a habit I've kept up anyways!
I voted, too!
Fevers out of the blue have meant strep for Gio!
Your father had stinky feet. You have already been given plenty of good advice on how to deal with it. What helped him: wash thoroughly daily, use only 100% cotton socks, foot powder, rotate shoes to allow for airing and drying, and allow the feet to be bare as much as possible. That worked pretty good for your dad. Good luck,
Love Mom
About stinky little feet
I really have no idea how to summarize or translate from my italian brain. Try this:

it is natural, non-allergic, and also work for small bruises, just put it under running water and rub it on the skin
