I'm taking a break sharing about my recent trip to Crimea, Ukraine to share what has been happening around here. I'm sure you won't mind. :)
Over the weekend we did a lot of yardwork. Planted vincas in the front and backyard along with a few other shrubs. Grandpa and John built a double chin bar for the kids to play on. As I was cleaning off the patio and rinsing off my feet, I threw the hose sprayer down to unkink the hose. Of course the sprayer landed trigger side down spraying me for a few seconds while I took off my glasses so that I could find it. Once I had control again, I looked over to see Caleb smiling with amusement at his dorky Mom. Fun.
Still.... the highlight of my Saturday. :)
Last night as I was getting the little boys ready for bed I overheard the tail end of this conversation between Alex and Dennis.
"Don't flush my toilet Alex! It's my pee pee! You flush yours!"
"Okay! Your penis gross!"
In a huff, Dennis got up after finishing his business and pushed past Alex, "My penis is not gross. Yours is!"
Where do they come up with this stuff?
Tomorrow Dennis has a consultation for the cranial facial clinic. He is also being scheduled for his upper eyelid surgery at the beginning of September. For the first time, I talked with Dennis about this upcoming surgery. Prior to this I felt that he would not understand. Surprisingly the talk went really well. Dennis is not thrilled with having to have another surgery but he is excited to get a new blue eye!
Alex had a recent ultrasound to check for kidney reflux. Guess what? There is none-- which means further testing is not required at this time! Next week he will be seen by the Spina Bifida Team-- a whole new set of doctors! I am thrilled about this! My hope is that they will encourage surgical procedures that will help with bowel and bladder incontinence since medication and catheterization alone has not solved the problem.
School starts in two weeks!

I'm always amazed at how much little kids can understand! We explained everything to Dorian about his surgery and like Dennis, he wasn't pleased, but he felt so horrid, he was ok with it if it would make him feel better.
Our younger son, 4, will go to the doctor with Dorian and when they come back, it's Dante who can tell me what the doctor said and what meds his big brother has to take. They absorb everything!
Glad to hear that Alex has no reflux and can't wait to hear what the SB team has to say. Tell Dennis we're all looking forward to seeing his new blue eye!
A house stuffed with teenagers, that's where it came from!
