Those Silly Trials

Last night Galina made a cake for desert. This is the fork Paul used to eat his! What a funny boy!
Chasing Dennis up the stairs after he got into trouble (got down pointy darts for him and Alex to play with along with getting into his brother's drawer and my closet) to make sure he went to his bed, I stubbed my toe really hard. I am pretty sure it is broken or it at least feels that way. It hurts to even walk. Yea yea, yea, if I had only not chased him this would not have happened-- I know. Definitely a trial rather than a smile, as I need to get past the constant throbbing.

P.S. Thank you Sarah! You've got mail.

  4. Buddy tape it to the toe next to it. It really does help it feel better. If pain is too bad ER will give you good pain meds :) And staying off will help the pain too!

  5. OOOOOOOO! That must hurt!!! Owie! There is nothing you can do for a broken toe - just has to heal. I broke the one next to the big one when I was a kid and wondered what it would be like to be blind. I was running??????!!!!! duh - along, eyes closed and ran into the fence or the gate or something toe first! That hurt! Tape it up to the next toe for support. That will help somewhat. Love your blog Christine.

  6. I am giggling just a bit. Forgive me! I just had that same thing happen to my right foot chasing Curtis after he'd been naughty. And yeah, it hurt to walk. We Mommies sometimes learn lessons the hard way, don't we? I know at least I do.

Also, even though I do not keep up like I did before with reading blogs, I want you to know that I am praying for your missions trip to Ukraine and for Dennis's upcoming surgeries.

  8. Sorry to hear about your toe. Unfortunately other than taking something for pain there really is not much they can do for a broken toe. They can give you one of those shoe boot things to wear until it gets better but that is about all. You can also tape it to the next toe to stabalize it as well. Hope it is better soon. Take about a week for it to even start to feel better. I have had lots of them. Now if the actually foot area swells you might want to have xray to make sure you did not crack bone in the actual foot area not just toe.

I hope that after you finally caught little Dennis that he went to bed with a good and red bottom. Sounds like he is need of having his bottom red a lot lately. Not a good thing, but unfortunately you cannot let him get by with things either.

  9. Hi! Get your toe looked at by a medical professional. It may look ok to you but to the medical professional it may be more serious. I know you are very busy but take some time for yourself.Thinking of your fast run, Pat

  10. I broke my toe about a year ago when somebody stepped on it when I was wearing sandles. It will hurt for a long time but nothing you can do. Tape it to the next toe is about all you can do. Hope you feel better.
    Love, mom

  13. Ouch broken toes hurt! I broke the 4th toe on my left foot about 7 years ago and it took a long time to heal. Not mucch really they can do for it. It made me realize how large a part toes play in walking!

Sorry you had to get it while following up on Dennis. I've had to carry Christian (my 5 year old)up the stairs to his room a couple times recently because he refused to go on his own! Don't think I'll be able to do that much longer. What do you do if a kid won't go up to their room??
