Can't wait to hear about it I will be praying for you and perhaps? your new addition. You are one brave coulple. If you ever do another question and answer post I would love to ask you a question. You have shared how you bond with your children, I was wondering how your husband bonds with the children, especially at the begining and with Paul? My husband adopted my son and they are close but it would be nice for them to bond more as we are heading into the teen years. Sorry so long.
You are one adventurous mommy. You are doing what I can only ever dream of doing. Love your faith is so strong, mine has faltered. Can't wait to hear the details. God bless Christine
You are a child hoarder. Gee whiz! Your husband must make a heck of a lot of money in order to live in that huge home and raise all these kids. I know he has to because you live in Southern Cal. Must be nice!
I bet it's a different thing this time... I'm thinking it's a mission trip? Something with children for sure but ... hmmm....Christine's talked about wanting to move there... will be excited to hear what's up!
Oh- I hate these teasers! Not really hate them- they are actually fun! A bit of anticipation! I'm also guessing something like a mission trip or some such, because of the post on the ear-tubes! Whatever it is, you guys are amazing! And it is so nice of you to take us along for the ride! :-)
“You need professional help. You exhibit all the signs of neurotic, obsessive addiction with children, the same way some people are addicted to alcohol, gambling, or sex. And like all addicts, you are still in the denial phase and therefore can’t or won’t see that you harbor some serious issues. You are no different; the symptoms are the same. If the number of kids you have now isn’t fulfilling your desires, no amount will. Only this time, you are prepared to take your entire family down the road of uncertainty and social/mental devastation in pursuit of an unwinnable endeavor. What I feel for you isn’t joy or even sadness, but pity.”
wow! Joining you in prayer for a safe journey, safe time there, and plenty of energy to tell us all about it. Prayers for kiddos who may be at home while you travel as well. God bless you, Christine!
Dear Reed Family, My wife, 4 sons and I live in Little Neck, Queens, NYC. I am always so impressed by your beautiful family and the honest, vulnerable and yet protective way in which you write about your lives. I read your blog so regularly, that my family will often ask me what is new with Smiles and Trials before asking me about my day at work. We are a very private family, but I just had to write this, because I was so upset about what another person's comments were to you. Then I realized you, your family and faith are much stronger than anyone's negative words. Please know that there are so many more people out here in blog land that are inspired, motivated and proud to be let into what you are willing to share with us. I and my family wish you and your family only the best with all your future plans. The Sullivans
Christine, I think you are amazing. I am so happy that you and your husband are willing to sacrifice to give to so many children. Christ is evident in every choice you make. There are so many children and not enough parents willing to take them in. Thank you, thank you, thank you for allowing Christ to lead you and use you in incredible ways. I appreciate you so much! (Listen to the Holy Spirit, friend, and hold not to the lies.)
I want one more child but needs to be a boy aged 6-10. So if you see an extra..... Seriously, I don't have the heart or money to go through it again but am open if something turns up. Hoping for a state child but nothing has happened in the last 7 years!
I can not wait to hear the news...I would love to hear that you all are doing something with home that Paul and Anastasia came from. When you posted pictures from over there my heart just broke for those children. Can't wait to hear more....
I cant wait to hear the details!! and dear anonymous why do you have to be so hurtful? In the old days most folks had a dozen kids. who cares how much money she makes or how big her house is? I sure dont. rock on Christine.
Yes...It must be nice to be a child of the King who wants His children to live well. I am so happy for Christine, my sister in Christ, that has a big 'ole home, a loving and employed husband and a van full of children! It is nice to wish good for others.
Wow! Something big must be up!! Things that go through my mind as I wonder... Mission trip? Moving? Are only a couple of you going or all of you? Does this have anything to do with Dennis being able to keep the new tubes for as long as 4 years instead of each year replacements? Hmmm... How exciting!!! As for the comment that implied you are a "child hoarder" I find your family amazing! Only God could have prepared yours and Johns hearts to love children as you do. Not too many years ago a family of 14 or more was common. My mother had 13 siblings. Whatever is up I'm sure it's going to be fantastic!!!
I am so excited to hear details!! I, too, think this is something mission oriented??
I am SO thankful that God provides for your family's needs. I am so thankful that God chose your family to include so many children that were once orphans and now have a forever family!! ;-)
Wow, the things people say, especially when you haven't even announced what you are doing yet. I am so excited for you and your family and can't wait to hear what it is.
cant wait to hear your plans. Congratulations on what you are led to. And to the oh so rude anonymous person get a life. No one makes you follow a blog.
I can't wait to know! How exciting! And please, don't pay attention to those anonymous. Who cares how much money your husband makes, or how big/beautiful your house is?
I'm not sure why people feel it's okay to leave anonymous, negative comments. Seems a bit cowardly to me. I on the other hand am to lazy to create a Google account. I suppose the peoople who left those comments would have prefered for all your lovely adopted children to have been left in the orphanages. Lets face it there aren't many people who are willing to adopt older children and children with special needs. God bless you and your family.
This might be an interesting blog for you. A Canadian family moved to a little village in Ukraine to do some outreach and start a dairy farm to help the economy of the village.
Hi!If it is a mission project please let me know I will help with a mission project. I could also contact our pastor and he may be able to help you out with some contacts. Our church is heavy into the mission projects we are always having mission worker come to our church. God bless Pat
Anyone who reads your blog knows what a tight, engaged, happy and committed family you all are. Those criticisms come from people who must not comprehend what the read. I Love the pictures of your kids all around the kitchen cooking and making things together. Swimming together. Hanging together. You build a great family bond, Reed family!
christine, you have a serious issue with addiction to adoption. Your poor kids are not even warm in the nest then you are off for more like a junkie looking for a fix. Geez lady, give a quality of life to the children YOU HAVE and not create so much more friction in the house. Those poor kids, must feel like they still live in an institution.
I've been following your blog since pre-Dennis adoption days, and it has been an honor and pleasure to watch your family grow.
Concerning the 'mean' anonymous' out there - They are cowardly to hide behind the anonymous tag, it gives them 'security' they use to spew out garbage that they wouldn't dare say to a living and breathing soul out of fear of being seen as a bad person.
[There is a way to use your site meter stats to have some idea of whom is leaving what.]
Probably they watch and wait and refresh the page to see if you've said anything back yet. To see if they've rattled you yet.
And you have not said anything. You have not acknowledge their trolling and misery. You have not played into their game. Which is the absolute best answer you can give. Which shows your strength, that you are above this. And that is so awesome. Let anonymous keep saying ugly things, the only picture they are painting is one of themselves.
15 children might not be for everyone, but do not be critical of whom it is for. If they have the love - which by far they do - the room, the ability to care for these children, then who is anon to decide what is right and wrong.
Keep going Christine, and loving your kids and kids everywhere. You are an example to us all.
I have to agree with the above commenter, first of all no one knows yet why they are heading back to the Ukraine and secondly...if Christine and her hubby have the means to have another child that's their business. From what i see, it's a wonderful, loving , christian , happy, helpful home. I have only dreamed of what the Reeds are doing. I have always wanted a big family and to adopt. If you have two loving parents who want to do this..why not? Keep up the good parenting, spreading the word and encouraging , because to me if you make a difference in just one child, one person , one family you are doing fantastic and I do believe you are guided by God. You make me want to find my faith..not just because of you beautiful family but your faith is so strong and amazing...i'm in awe. xx Lisa
Cannot wait to hear what you guys are up to next. Some of us do not have the courage you do, so we sit back and watch, living vicariously through you. Hoping it is a mission trip and all of us get to do something to be involved. You are an inspiration to so many of us! God bless!
Excited to hear what you guys have planned! As for all the Anon commenters with nasty comments, all I have to say is that they probably aren't even capable of giving children the love that you guys obviously are! Yup, you have down times, but even parents with ONE kid have issues at times, that's just parenting. And your family seems to be doing very well. I'm a bit envious because you are going to be surrounded by kids and grandkids forever. :D
