Celebrating Your Day!

Our Alex turned six! After talking about his big day for many months he was thrilled that it had finally come!

We went to the park! And he asked to swing high!

All the kids enjoyed the beautiful fresh air.

Julia and Anastasia frosted the cupcakes. Grandma and Grandpa came down to celebrate too!

Alex made it quite clear that these were his birthday candles.

But Dennis managed to sneak up behind Alex and help him out a little. Thankfully Alex didn't notice. But when Dennis had the nerve to reach out to grab one of Alex's candles to lick it, Alex wouldn't have it. Understandably so. :)

Alex loved opening up his presents. He had finally reached the age to get a handmade treasure chest from Grandpa with special hand painted letters by Grandma spelling out Alex's name.
Alex squealed with delight when we surprised him with this toy car. It was nice to see him so happy with his presents!
Dennis was not happy. That should have been his car.

Today we took a family trip over to see the Cabazon Dinosaurs! They were so cool!

Initially, Alex was very scared. By the end of our visit, he was one brave boy!

The kids had fun looking for rocks with words on them. They got a prize if they found one! A few of the girls found three!

The kids panned for colored rocks-- whatever they collected the could keep! It kept them busy for a long time. Alex could have done it all day!

We climbed to the top of a very tall T-Rex! It was totally cool!

Hope you had a wonderful birthday Alex!

  2. Happy, happy birthday Alex!

Could he BE any cuter? I love the photo of him in the swing! He is the personification of joy!

And the one of Dennis crying is adorable too, the poor boy.

I know I've said this before, but Alex really looks uncannily like his mama!

  6. Great pictures! Love the look on Alex's face as he looks at his candles and the next with Denis sneaking up behind to help blow out the candles is priceless, and then of course the one of Denis crying about the car. I've seen that face on my son a few times!

  7. Happy Birthday Alex!!! Looks like a fantastic day had by all!! So sad about Dennis and the car.. His big day will come too.. Did you know that the same company that makes those yellow and orange cars also makes police cars? I think you order them online but walmart could have them too. :) who knows... Maybe Alex will share too! :) such a wonderful smile on Alex it always makes me smile too!

    : )Hugs!

  10. Aw, Happy Birthday Sweet Alex. Broke my heart to see Dennis' tears but life lessons are being learned. Love the post from John. hahaha.

  11. Can he be 6 already?? I am so glad he enjoyed his special day! I love the picture of Dennis sneaking up behind him;-) That is what little brothers do!

  12. Alex looks so incredibly happy in all those pictures, but especially the first one! I'm glad he had such a wonderful birthday.

Poor Dennis, my boys have the same problem when they see their brother opening gifts. We actually have a birthday gift for the non-birthday boy too, a little one. It started because Dorian's birthday is right before Christmas, so to spread things out a bit, he gets something on Dante's b-day, too. Helps alleviate a few tears, too.

  13. Happy Birthday Alex!!!!!!!!!!!!!
