The Last Few Days

All Caleb wanted for Christmas was a pair of footed jammies.

Doesn't he look cute?

Learning wrap-ups are totally cool! Even my non-homeschoolers enjoy playing with them. Andrew is a whiz at them!

Dennis loves playing with cars. Since he likes to lay down on the floor to be eye level with his toys I have laid rugs out here and there so he won't be on the cold tile.

Anastasia and Sveta have such a neat relationship. I cherish their innocence.... and their beautiful smiles.

Over the weekend we had a bonfire-- well I mean John did.

The kids just love our trampoline. Look how high Anastasia can get.

"G" is doing great in our home. After going to the library, she now has a new book to journal about.

Julia is doing well with her homeschooling. She is very much an independent worker (like Annalyn) getting her work done very early and so the two of them are able to help me with some of the other kids' work. Bringing all the girls home has turned out to be a wonderful blessing. In a few weeks, Julia and Annalyn will begin online writing and pre-algebra classes.

Anastasia doesn't play the Wii or any video games for that matter very often, but when it comes to this dancing game-- Anastasia is first in line to have a turn!

Hi Christine! I saw this on another blog, and thought of you - you have the connections with people who may be in the situation to help out with this sad story. I know nothing more than what I read here, just now. You don't have to post my message, but thought if you haven't heard this story, you may be the one who should hear of it!

Christine - I wish I lived in your neck of the woods! I would be asking for homeschooling lessons from you! I have a few months jump on you in this, but have a feeling that you are much better at it than I am, already!

We love the Learning wrap ups (made by discovery toys) too. We found ours at a garage sale this past summer for $1! It got the adding, subtracting and multiplying sets.

I am thrilled for all of you! I'm tellin you, Home education can be very good for relationships. :)
But you already know that.

Love the jammies!

We made a change an went back to our old standby for extra work in Vocabulary.
McGuffy's Readers.
All of our boys went through the entire series, which goes into college level reading. They re wrote each lesson in their own words and it helped them a great deal with understanding vocabulary and how to put a sentence together, etc.
The girls each have their own set which we are VERY FORTUNATE to have, as they can be costly, but you can find them used.

Hmm, The wrap ups look like something I'll have to check into. We are planning to use Math U See this year.

My older son wanted some of those pyjamas, too. I thought it was odd, but I bought them for him, though I haven't seen him wear them yet. Who would have thought they were popular. It looks like Caleb will need the next larger size soon.

Hi! I have used McGuffy's Readers and Richard's Math. I liked the Mcguffy's Readers because the books were very well written and stressed Christian virtues.Pat

Hi Linda, The online writing class is offered through our homeschool charter. Wish I could be of more help.

Ok... I will keep looking. Since I started Teaching Textbooks for Math (I LOVE it) I have been looking for similar programs for other subjects. Let me know if you ever run across anything!

Hello,
I have been reading through lots of your old blog posts tonight and enjoying them very much. But I'm wondering how many of your kids are homeschooled right now? Thanks!
