John and Christine plus....

Everyone you ask would agree that we jumped into life together way too fast and haven't slowed down since. It began with our 2 months of dating before eloping on Decemeber 30,1993.

In May 1995, we had our first child Adam.

Just seventeen months later we had Caleb in 1996-- our only child we found out the sex of.
Eight months after that we were expecting our first girl though we did not know it at the time.

By December 1999 we had four children just six years into our marriage.

Between William and Andrew I miscarried very early in the pregnancy. But praise the Lord because we were blessed with another beautiful boy in February 2002.

In October 2003 we had our last biological child-- sweet little Jonny.

At first we thought we were done with our family-- but God changed our hearts when we saw the devastation caused by the Asian Tsunamis in December 2004. That is when God opened our hearts to adoption and we welcomed Anna and Sveta home from Russia in September 2005.
Realizing that not all adoptive families are able to parent their adopted children (for whatever reasons), we opened our hearts to our daughter Annalyn in August 2006 by adopting from a dissolved adoption.

Here are the eleven of us at Disneyland!

In February 2007 we provided respite for a girl for one week. After not seeing her for nearly four months because she went back to her previous family, we welcomed her back into our home-- forever! In November 2007 Rachel officially became our daughter.

In July 2008, God amazed and blessed us all with Dennis (just 22 months old) who was just a baby at the time. With seven surgeries in one year he showed us a thing or two about strength and courage.

In August 2009, we went back to the same exact orphanage we adopted Dennis from and brought home Alex. Even before he learned to walk, Alex had me chasing him!

Since we were on a roll, we welcomed Paul and Anastasia this past summer in July 2010. Even though they were our oldest children at the time of their adoption they have transitioned into our family with the greatest of ease (after the initial week).

In December, John and I agreed to take in Galina-- just for respite. After being in our home for three weeks, we learned that her previous family had come to the decision to find a permanent, new family for her.

Just a few days ago, John and I decided that we would be that family.

And so as Annalyn called it--- we are now going to be John and Christine plus fifteen!

Great news!! So happy for the Reeds.

Christine, what exactly is the difference between a dissolved adoption and respite? I understand respite, but is a dissolved adoption what comes after respite if the original adopted family cannot keep the child? Very interesting!

Wow, Christine! That is great!!!!

I bet Galiana is thrilled....How has she taken the news? Do share...

And as always I wonder why she´s worked out in your house but not in another house...KWIM? Never having adopted myself, I am intrigued but I guess some dynamics work and others don´t huh?

IN any case, I am so happy for you all...

i knew it! as soon as she started appearing in your pictures of daily life, and especially after you included her school companies in your homeschooling list, i knew she'd be staying.

so this is 3 adoptions from disruptions... if the first two are any indication, i'd say God has given you & John a gift. you are not only able to love children who weren't born from you physically, but also take the leap of faith required to take in children whose adoptive families can't keep them - and make it work!

i look at Rachel and am just amazed. at least from what it appears on the blog, she's no different than, say, Julia, only with added memories. and just the other day you wrote about Annalyn's leaps. can't wait to see how Galina blooms!

p.s. - are you keeping her name?

All I can say is....WOW

You are an awesome family. I have 10, 8 still at home, and am doing respite for 5 more at the moment. Everything is going smoothly and it's only for a few days, but I was a little bit overwhelmed last night - the baby is 3 mos and I was expecting a sleepless night (the little sweetheart ended up sleeping from 9pm-5am - heavenly!). You seem absolutely unflappable.

Galina is a very blessed little girl to find a forever family with you!

Hi Christine, Congrats! I'm not sure how to ask this question, but do only you and John make the decision to adopt again or do you also speak to the children about it esp when the kids have met the possible new sibling i.e. Rachel and Galina? It sounds like Galina will have a smooth transition into her new home!

Wow, wow, wow! Such wonderful news. Galina is beautiful--so happy for her and so happy for your family.

John and Christine plus 15 has a nice ring (as does 16, 17, 18, and 19). But somehow I'm guessing you may not be done. ;)

I loved seeing your family growth over the years. Such a beautiful testimony of God's goodness through birth and through adoption.

Much Love,

This is truly fantastic news! "The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." (Psalm 34:18) That Galina would not be brokenhearted at not having her first placement work out but now to be welcomed into the middle of all the love in your family is a double portion of unexpected blessing. We are all truly excited for you all.

Looking forward to the story of where Galina was born. Sounds like a beautiful Ukrainian name!

Welcome Galina!!! And hearty congratulations to you all.

I suspected she'd be a part of your family. I'm sorry her previous family didn't work out, but if your other kids are any indication, she's in the right place to thrive!

I LOVE seeing the photos of your family growing!!! I'm continously impressed with how much love there is in your home and how well you two handle things and still make your relationship work. I only have two kids and it's a struggle sometimes. :) You're an inspiration, Christine.

How awesome! I love the timeline also... from one short engament to another... Our's was 2 weeks, got engaged then married a month and a half later.

We had advice from one of our church leaders, "Take the time to find the right one and once you've found them don't wait!" :)

Congrats on 15! :)

I don't know how I missed this post, but I love the visual timeline. Since I haven't been reading your blog from the beginning, it was so helpful to walk me through your life with beautiful photos. I am so thankful the Lord is using you to love all these kids. When I stop here, I pray! You inspire me as a mom. It also makes me think that 6 kids is a small family. :) Blessings to you, sweet bloggy friend!
