It is Thanksgiving break so all the kids are home.
Fun fun fun.
And I am not being sarcastic.
We are having Chili Mac and creamy egg and tuna salad sandwiches for lunch and then Adam will drive me to the grocery store to buy our Thanksgiving turkey. Hopefully I can find a at least a 23 pounder. Are you cooking a turkey? Do you enjoy cooking? How many will you gather with this Thanksgiving? My Mom, John's parents, Aunt Tanya, and Uncle Jeremy will be joining us.
Today Caleb shared the sweetest story with me about Dennis. Both of them happen to be on a chocolate syrup kick. After Dennis watched Caleb make himself some for breakfast, he tugged on Caleb's shirt and asked for some chocolate milk too. Caleb got a cup, poured some milk, and pretended to add chocolate syrup. Hiding the top deep in the cup made Dennis oblivious to the fact that the lid was still on. Caleb then took a spoon and stirred the milk and handed it over to Dennis. Dennis was thrilled and thanked him politely and drank all of his "white" pretend chocolate milk.
Sveta crocheted one very long string which I tied together and taught the kids Chinese jump rope. I would use two chairs as my legs and play for hours. Now that is all they can think of!

Hahahah that story about Dennis and the milk made me crack up!
I'm not having a turkey this year, although I'm sure that the rest of my family will. I became a vegetarian in February and this is my first Thanksgiving sans-turkey. Honestly, turkey is my least favorite part of the meal anyway, so I don't think I'll miss it at all!
Your kids have all week off for Thanksgiving? Not here in NE. Kids go all day Mon. and Tues. and a half day on Wed.
Going to friends for Thanksgiving dinner but I have a 21 lb. turkey to cook for here at home. It was free at the grocery store after spending $300 during November. My philosophy was to get the big one, roast it, make lots of meals for the freezer, hot turkey sandwiches for meals over the weekend and homemade soup. Turkey can be used do many ways.
Surprised you aren't roasting two with the crowd at your house for the holiday meal.
Have a wonderful holiday.
We're having between 40-50 people over this year (all family too!LOL) but we're not doing turkey this time...we are actually having a very unconventional thanksgiving dinner and will be using pork and "moros and cristianos" (cuban dish..rice and black beans). Last year I did a poll and it was practically unanimous...most people we know don't like turkey (could be a cultural thing as my family is comprised mostly of Cubans, Mexicans, and Chinese) so we figured the whole point was to be together and demonstrate gratitude not be tied to a specific food...so there you go. And yes, I do enjoy cooking and the chaos of having family over which is odd considering I'm introverted (I always end up exhausted but feels it's worth it to keep the family and traditions going from one generation to the next). Wishing you the very best.
Hi.I am cooking two 14 lbs. turkeys. My daughter will be helping me cook. She is a wonderful cook. She has baking a turkey down to a science literally. She is a chemisrty major at Penn state. It appears as if she has all the chemical formulas for the baking ingredients worked. With her roasting the turkey it is true science. And when the turkey is finished baking it looks like a beautiful work of art Paula Dean would be proud of her.I am very proud of my daughter, Many blessing to thankful for, Pat
We're probably not going to have turkey this year because we are in Serbia getting our boy!! We should be home by Dec 4th, so we might just have a late Thanksgiving feast! Our Little Man will love it (we haven't found anything yet that he doesn't like)
