Ending Out the Week

Decorating is coming along slowly. I knew it would be the last thing I got too. So.... the second night we were here I stayed up till nearly midnight putting up this mural so that I could enjoy it and feel like I accomplished something.

Earlier in the week John headed back up north to our other home for another load. All of our parents helped him to fill up another 26 foot U-Haul truck which included this tree that we bought for our first house. It had been in a wine barrel all these years and now it finally is planted in the ground for good. Hmm, I wonder if we are?

The play structure is being built in the back of the yard too. Soon the kids can enjoy their fort once more!

Homeschooling this week has gone well-- I think. Jonny is breezing through his work as I try and find the right amount of workload that he should have each week. He is doing all second grade work as a first grader and is even learning cursive. Still, his favorite subject is recess. :)

Dennis misses going to pre-school so we are trying to find things to work on with him at home. Since we are not completely unpacked yet, I am not organized to have things to keep him occupied so he is getting into everything if we do not watch him closely.

Grandma to the rescue! She spent lots of time going over numbers with Dennis the other day and he loved it! And it allowed me plenty of time to work with Anna and Rachel.
Oh, I guess I forgot to mention that Anna is being home schooled too. That is working out nicely. For the first time yesterday the two of them doubled a cake recipe all by themselves-- that counts for hands on fractions right?

Julia is sporting a cupcake tattoo. In fact all the kids are sporting fun, fake tattoos from Grandma. Nothing like Rumikub and tattoos!

Our house is beginning to feel like home. Well..... slowly.

I was a bad, bad mommy when I gave into Jonny's begging for me to buy Mega Shark VS. Giant Octopus.
There is some language but it was so fake, and the kids thought it was so cool, that I allowed it. Here they are watching it closely since they have been without tv for nearly two weeks.
P.S. I have wonderful things to share about Alex's school. God couldn't have orchestrated a better placement for him!

I especially love the fireplace in the dining area! I hope you get all your projects done soon so you can rest and just be done with all that! Enjoy homeschooling!

Sounds like all is going great. Jonny sounds like a smart boy! I am about to start homeschooling my daughter after Christmas. She is in 2nd grade but struggles big time. I am hoping homeschool will help her out.

I am amazed at how much you get accomplished. It hardly seems like you moved. I know you FEEL it, but it doesn't show. :) Your new house is so put together already. And, homeschooling geared up, too? GOOD JOB, MOMMA!

Also, I ran across this link and immediately though of you. http://www.seekgoodworks.com/index.php

From reading your blog, I think that these are the values that you are teaching your family and maybe this might be something that you may be interested in for them.

I love mural in your bathroom. It's beautiful. Sounds like you are settling in quickly and turning your new house in to your new home. I cam across this site the other day, learninggamesforkids.com. I thought it might give you some great learning games for Dennis. Well, for all the kids actually.
