An Update on the Home

These last few weeks have been challenging. Mostly because we are here in our old home and John is down at our new house--- over 300 miles apart.
Though I have not enjoyed this time apart, it has strengthened John's and my relationship. Though we seem to nit pick and bicker over crazy move related things now more than ever, we are also in touch with each other more than ever. One night John simply called to tell me that he filled up at $2.87 a gallon. In the middle of giving the boys a bath, I didn't care much, but I do think it is incredibly sweet that he would call.

So much is going on with our new home. Painting is finished. The washer and dryer are installed. The cement has been poured in the backyard. And the walls in our living room have been torn into so that shear wall could be installed for the loft addition. With all of this going on-- it is driving me crazy not being able to be involved. And yet I am thankful that the added stress of overseeing everything that is going on is not on my plate. John is handling it all and he is taking videos of the progress and to reassure me that the house is being protected from the dust and dings from the remodel.

Here is the newly finished closet which added our 6th bedroom.

Just a few more weeks, and hopefully the house will be ready for us to move into. The kids keep asking if we are going to spend Halloween in our new home. I admitted that Halloween is the furthest thing from my mind right now.

P.S. Happy Birthday Mom!
P.S.S. Dennis is running a high fever. Sleep is his best friend right now. This will be the first sickness to enter our home in very long time. I hope its gone as quick as it crept in.

The house is beautiful. . .you'll be in it before you know it and you'll wonder how that time went by so quickly!

Hope Dennis gets better quickly and that no one else comes down with whatever it is!!

God Bless. . .

Your house is beautiful! Good luck with the move and transition. You have an amazing family and your blog inspires me to be a better mom/wife.

Being apart is hard enough. Giving up some control is even harder. I think about that when there are things I want to control and can't (or shouldnt) I give it to God and try as hard as I can not to take it back (control) and thats hard for me.
Excited that things are all coming togther nicely for you. Praying for Dennis to feel better fast and for what ever it is not to spead to the rest of the troops.

Hang in there Christine... It is almost done. You certainly have lots on your plate and now even more with Dennis being sick...We will pray for your family's health. Just think a few months out and this all will be a memory.

Isn't it funny how Halloween is never far from kids' thoughts. All of mine have been talking about it for a couple of weeks. Thankfully, it gives all of them nothing but pleasure and anticipation.

i'll pray the little guy gets to feeling better soon! for some reason, every year or two i used to get these HORRIBLE fevers - no other symptoms, just the fever, although the fever itself made me feel awful in general.

we're talking i used to hit 104 in an ice bath & chilled IV fluids.

hopefully Dennis just has a little bug & will be back to his usual self soon. he's such a happy little guy & i'm sure his smiles brighten up your home! :-)

What a lovely house! I prayed for you today - with being apart from your hubby while you manage the home, packing, schooling, etc. Wow! What a job! My husband is gone more than he is home because he runs a wilderness camp for at-risk youth and one of our children is wheelchair-bound and in need of a hospital nearby. People often comment on how well we get along and how "in love" we are after 18 years of marriage. I laugh and tell them that's the benefit to spending much of our time apart. When we're together we're just so glad to be together there's no time for arguing! May God give you strength for the day, Jennifer
