I don't know about where you live but over here it has been rainy, cold, and overcast. A welcome change from the hot and humid last week we had. As I sat and snuggled with Dennis this morning, I couldn't wait for late morning to come so that I could get the chicken in the oven to have it slow bake all day into a wonderful stew for dinner. Needless to say the wonderful smell coming from my kitchen has been heavenly....
Dennis has some sort of virus but the dentist went ahead and prescribed antibiotics just in case two of his teeth were infected too. The gums around two of his teeth that she worked on a few months ago look especially bad so she didn't want to take any chances. We both feel so bad for him because he already has so much going on his mouth with his cleft palate repair. She will see him again at the end of next week to which I am incredibly thankful for.
I filled his prescription at CVS so that I could redeem the $25 gift card coupon I got in the mail. Thanks CVS for the free printer paper, glue (to make slime), erasers, and tape! You can never have to much tape around here!
John bought two fruit trees last night one of them being a peach tree. Can you guess what the other one was? A pomegranate tree of course! Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! John is working extra hard on the backyard and I am so proud of all that he has already accomplished. There will even be extra space for a garden-- and that sounds like something wonderful to do with my soon to be homeschooling kids.
Speaking of homeschooling, I have already talked to the teacher who will be working with Alex, Jonny, and Rachel. She is very nice and plans on meeting up with me at the resource dept. in a few weeks to pick out the kids' curriculum. Not only do they have tons to choose from, but there are allocated funds for each child to spend on things like science projects, dioramas, art supplies, horseback riding lessons for the boys, and educational materials. There are some new concerns which I will share in a future post, but for now I am just asking for God's direction.
Thank you God for your compassion, grace, and wisdom. Thank you for great kitchen smells. Thank you for my children who I will sit down and eat dinner together with. Thank you for dentists. Thank you for antibiotics. Thank you for a wonderful husband. Thank you for pomegranate trees. Thank you for the opportunity to homeschool. Thank you for art supplies. Just thank you.

I wish there were that sort of homeschooling support from the state in Michigan!
Thank you God for a husband who leads our home spiritually, thank you God for my children and the fun we have together, thank you God for the smell of cookies in the oven, thank you God for laughter and story reading, thank you God for home schooling adventures :), thank you God for our Home that is made of the people who live here!
Hey - we are growing Poms too.
You may already know this but in the case you don't I just wanted to pass on some been there done that knowledge - Poms don't like "wet feet" so make sure they are planted where the soil drains well. Also - do not overwater them - they are not excessive drinkers. And while it is REALLY hard to do you need to remove the buds and fruits as soon as they set the first two or three seasons to make sure the roots get established well. Once you've done that your third or fourth seasons will be instant bumper crops!
We've had our 3 trees about 5 years (they were about a year old when we planted them) and this year we pulled about 30 good sized fruits off of them - the best we've ever had :)
I actually went onto you tube and saw the work done on your house from the last post. WOW! such a quick change! It looks great. Also I figure you might have heard of it already but there is a program called Mathletics online. Oksana LOVES it and it helps kids aged kindergarden through grade 12 to practice and learn Math. There is a fee for it though...I think its $99 for a single child and the cost goes down for mulitples. 2 kids might be $179 or such. She asked for that for Christmas this year instead of anything else. I thought it might be a good resource if you are interested. (They have friendly competition against other kids their ages from other countries etc)
Love all the posts!

Praying for Dennis to feel better soon.
Congrats on your dive into homeschooling. After 16 years of HS I can say it has been one of the best choices we made. I love how close we are especially now some of the kids have left the house.
I firmly believe there is no RIGHT way to school, but as you seek Him and His direction may He bless your every step, especially with kids from the hard places who need so much extra support.
Delighting in Him

Hi! Homeschooling is alot of work but a lot of fun. In Erie we have a wonderful homeschooling group. I also have hired an education advisor to work with me when I was having trouble getting my children to understand some learning concepts in math. I have also hired tutors who were teachers who worked with my children in a home setting.I also used the support of the company we purchased our educational supplies from. Good luck, Pat
