Today I feel rejuvenated... and dare I say excited! I met with a fairly "new" friend who has quickly become one of my closest friends as we talked over dinner at the Olive Garden last night. She helped me to design the backyard which she already drew up a plan for, so that I could show the contractor tomorrow and get a bid on the cement work. Yes that means I am finally going to see my new house tomorrow! And I am excited! I am taking Julia and Annalyn down with me to keep me company on the drive and so that they could report back to the rest of the kids with their approval-- hopefully. :)
I met with all of the elementary school kids' teachers and was pleasantly surprised to hear how awesome every single one of them them are doing. Every time Alex has gotten off the bus shouting that he had a great day-- well my little guy was telling the truth! He has had no timeouts for the last two weeks-- well maybe one timeout two Mondays ago-- but that is so long ago that I don't even count that! William probably has the best teacher he has ever had and I am already sad thinking that he will have to start all over again. When I say best-- I mean the best for him because she understands him... challenges him... appreciates him... and doesn't let things get past her. That is a rarity when your child gets a teacher that is absolutely perfect for them. Sniff sniff... surely his next teacher will be just as awesome right?? I can hope. Anastasia and Paul are doing well in class considering the language barrier. They are loved and accepted by their peers from what I am told. :) They are way behind academically which I was expecting at this point, but after just a few weeks of school they have both showed improvement in their math skills.
All of the kids are finally settling into a routine. They get up fairly easy in the morning-- they eat breakfast, pack their lunch, and help straighten out the house. After school they come home, do their homework, do their chores, and then they are off to play. Pretty simple... which I like. The mess always seems to be there lurking in the shadows-- but I think that comes with the territory.
Oh well.
I have been packing an average of three boxes a day because our "big move" is fast approaching. Escrow is scheduled to close on the 17th of this month and we hope to drive our first load of stuff down in a U-Haul so that when we move the following weekend we can make do without all the other stuff that will still be in transit on a much bigger truck. My hope is that once our "old" home is empty and cleaned, we can have an open house to get people in the door and looking at it.
I am off to get ready to go. I need to pack an overnight bag. My Mom is coming in a few hours to watch the kids until John comes home this evening.
Two birthdays next week! Dennis will turn four and Anna will be 12! Oh my, they are growing up way too fast!

Hope you have a safe trip down! We live about 45 min. from where you are moving to, so if you need any help, or would like to have lunch sometime let me know? We have 3 adopted and one bio child.
Have enjoyed reading about your fantastic family, and am amazed at how you manage soo many kids!

Very exciting!
Are you doing anything special for the two birthday kids?
Is the house that far away that you didn't see it or house hunt?
I hope that the transition for the kids in school goes smoothly for them (while means you too).
You should have left the kids home with the others so you and John had an overnight alone (IMO).
How nice that your friend is helping you design the backyard.
Oh wow! I hope you have a great time tomorrow at the new house. Can't wait to hear what your thoughts are! Everything happens so quickly doesn't it. Amazing!

I am excited to hear your thoughts on the new house. Also, I have a question. You had perviously said that the area had 2 pools in the homeowners assoc. What does that mean? Can you use them anytime? How far away from your house are they? I have never heard fo that before.
Anyway! Hope you have a great time and I agree that the kids are growing so fast. Anna is already 12? I started reading your blog a few years ago and with her already 12 it just shocked me. :) She was so young then...still young but growing up. You know what I mean. :)

Enjoy your time with your two girls and seeing your new home!! This is very exciting!
we were supposed to close on our new house (forclosure) thursday, but the bank we are buying it from wasn't ready... now we wait from day to day wondering when it will be.
your new house is beautiful. i am looking forward to seeing more pictures. and the back yard plans sounds awesome!
The year I was in 4th grade I had one of my best teachers ever. She was perfect for me, and moving broke my heart. Especially when at the new school things were absolutely, miserably dreadful. The biggest traumas of my childhood occurred in that class....but then for the last four months of the school year, I got my second or maybe even first favorite teacher. You never know.
Hope all goes wonderful! Enjoy seen the house in REAL life and be able to get the Dreams of what you want to do with it!
Have a safe & happy time!! Looking forward to seeing what you do to the back yard there!
