1. More times than not, I go back and change my mind about things-- it's like I go through a period of buyer's remorse. Just yesterday I was telling John that I felt like we shouldn't be doing the loft construction because of the state of our current economy and the fact that a house on our cu-de-sac just went up for short sale further crushing our chances of selling our old home at a decent price. I guess reading the book "Radical," by David Platt has really got me thinking about how we live, what we spend money on, and our lifestyle in general-- all luxuriously extravagent compared to the majority of the world. But John sweetly reminded me that without the extra space how could we help out respite needing families, host kids or foreign exchange students, and or have the ability to open up our home to friends and family who may need a place to stay-- especially if the economy continues to get worse.
He doesn't know it-- but I could've kissed him!
2. It was pointed out to me that I need to update my email address since it still references us having only six kids. Yes I could do that, but I would rather keep it so that I do not lose touch with people who have always known us to have that email. I have lost touch with so many people who have changed their email-- I figured why add to the problem.
3. The study of Isaiah is interesting after all. When I first began reading the notes of BSF I had trouble staying awake. Learning about all the kings just wasn't as interesting to me as learning about Jesus' life. Yet as I moved onto the study questions referring to Isaiah 1:16-17, I began to get excited. Did you know those verses refer to caring for orphans and widows too? I am amazed how intertwined all the books of the bible are.
4. I have began cutting Dennis's hair in the bathtub right after his first bath. His hair is already wet and after picking up most of the hair, I can just rinse him off!
5. Thank God for friends-- especially the one who inspired me to go out and buy a fresh pineapple and taught me that it is perfectly ripe when the bottom center begins to show a light, furry mold on it. I know it sounds gross, but you cut that part off anyway and what you have inside is pure, sweet, golden, deliciousness!

Okay, now it is your turn. Go ahead and share 5 "new" things about you.
20 inspiring thoughts:
Wow, I'm the first commenter.
OK, 5 things...
1. I had fast food twice this week. That's a record I'm not proud of!
2. I'm a CSI addict. I'm sorry, it's true. Great season premier last night.
3. My faith is really being tested right now - 3 more melanomas were removed, waiting to see if they've spread.
4. I love the book of Isaiah. Wait till you get to ch. 52&53. I sobbed my way through those.
5. I can't think of another one. Sorry!
5 things about me:
1. I buy my socks a size smaller than what would 'fit'--often, I sneak a pair of my 7 yr old son's socks, in fact. I can't stand it when socks get all loose and baggy throughout the day.
2. I bought my mom a poodle mix puppy for Mothers' Day a few years ago. I think I live vicariously through her, because I don't have the patience to care for a dog, but I really, really, REALLY love spoiling that little dog!!
3. I collect and restore 1980s Cabbage Patch Kids. :)
4. I tend to feel a twinge of guilt when I spend money on myself for something relatively frivolous. I always think of how I could have spent the money to do xyz for someone else instead.
5. I carry pre-packaged snacks--granola bars, cracker packs, etc.--in my car. Whenever I see someone with a cardboard sign asking for spare change, I hand them a few snacks instead. If someone truly 'looks' homeless, I will often run and grab them a meal from a fast food place and go back to give it to them.
1. This was the first day since we came back from the States that we didn't go to the beach even though we were in town.
2. We had fast food in the sukkah today! I'm loving that Sukkot came this early this year, so being in the Sukkah is absolutely pleasant. And kosher McDonald's made the kids' day!
3. Being on holiday my kids do absolutely no school work. We play with LEGOs instead. And we also spend a lot of time in the sukkah. Have I mentioned how much I love this holiday, the festival of the Tebernacles? I didn't even notice Facebook was gone, and there have been at least 2 comments added to your post since I started writing this.
4. I sometimes forget that Israel is not in Europe. I enjoy the comfort of it being so Western in many aspects, and take some of the "strange things" as granted because they seem normal for the climate or whatever. But then I mention something that everyone seems to know in Europe... and then people look at me confused. Like the Vienna Choir Boys, the Hallelujah Chorus of Händel's Messiah, the church bells ringing at noon, or sinply Easter candy. I do love how the East and West meet here, it just surprises me from time to time!
5. I just finished reading the 4th Twilight novel. I only did it for the LOL's and can't wait till my blog friends rip it apart on their blog like they did with the first two movies. Real vampires don't sparkle in the sunshine, they turn into dust! (No I don't believe in vampires.) But honestly, as long as it makes another generation actually read books, I don't mind. I'll just continue to make fun of it. (and everyone is welcome to do the same with things I read/watch). The world would be a lot more boring if everyone liked the same things.

5. I love Jesus! and have been struggling with quiet times. I was journaling a bit about it recently and rephrased it as 'connecting with God' every day, and it really seems to have unbound some sort of something in my head because it seems to be a lot easier to read and pray lately.

Try pulling out the middle leaves of a fresh pineapple. If they come out easily it is ripe. No need to wait for the mold.
As for Isaiah - wonderful book that looks forward to our Lord Jesus. I love how it reflects the bible. The first 39 chapters are of judgement, just as there are 39 books in the old testament. The remaining 27 are of promise, just as there are 27 books in the new testament. Read Isaiah 53, even if it's out of order. Just so worth it. I could go on... believe me.
I absolutely love the old testament. It makes reading the NT like reading in colour, rather than black and white. So much about Jesus. There's a great book called "God's Big Picture", by Vaughn Roberts, if you are interested in a great book to give you a really good understanding of how the bible hangs together as a whole. And really accessible. We did it with our ladies bible study last year.

1. I have Tinitus in my right ear. It constantly makes a whooshing sound and I've been tested for all sorts of things and no physical cause has been found. I prefer to have noise around me all of the time because when it is quiet, the whooshing drives me crazy.
Kristen, I left a comment on your blog. As for today, well you have been on my mind and I am just at a loss for words. Big hugs my friend.
