I am writing to you in the hopes that you can help me. How many times a day or week do you hear that!! lol
I have been following your family for a long time and have great admiration and respect for your love of family and children in this world.
Recently we were called about two children that need a home immediately. One them is 3.5 and the other is not yet born. We should not have heard about this. I believe God allowed us to hear. The girl is in care and has been in four home for the last 3.5 years. She had a rough start: car seat in front of tv for 1 year. Extremely flattened head that required a year in a helmet to repair.
Her brother and her were both exposed to drugs prenatally. Her brother will be born in one month. Time is of the essence. He does not need to go into foster care. We want them both.
Right now, the foster home that has them thinks we would be wonderful. She is highly respected in the foster care system. The only hang up is the size of our family. The powers that be (government) are concerned that our family with eight children could not minister to a child(ren) with special needs and attachment issues (as this little girl has).
I know that you would be an expert on why you think this is not true, or perhaps you agree with them. Is there *any* way you could write me a letter stating your thoughts on the *benefits* of a large family on a child with special needs and attachment issues (if you support this).
I will be calling the woman tomorrow and talking to her and I would like to go to her office and see if she will meet with me. At that time I am going to take to her all the research I have done about large families/attachment issues/special needs, and why we should be allowed to adopt these children. The baby is due in one month and the little girl is just beginning to be transitioned into yet another foster home.
Please help us if you can.
Thank you so much! Blessings, Justine http://www.andthentherewere10.blogspot.com
