A Three Ring Circus

It feels like we are starring in a three ring circus these last few days of school. So much to do-- yet with school ending you'd think things would be winding down. Nope. At least not around here. They are winding up-- like the party is just getting started!

This morning, I tried my hand at "homeschooling" Dennis and Alex. Really simple-- colors and letters. I admit that I feel totally inadequate to do this job, and yet I am feeling pulled towards it with one child in particular-- maybe two. So I practiced. School just seems to be having such a negative impact on these two kids as they gravitate towards friends who are not the role models I want my children to be around and as a result we are seeing some pretty negative things.

In a little while, Dennis is going to the dentist to have his front tooth pulled. Pretty soon he will resemble a jack-o-lantern! If you remember to send up a few prayers for peace and calm while Dennis has this done, it would be much appreciated. I am not much for bribing but today I promised loads of ice-cream and a phone call with Daddy.

On a side note, John and I are breaking away from the kids for dinner. Looking forward to putting on a nice shirt, maybe a little make-up and holding hands under the table. Sure it might be a work function, but in my book it definitely counts as a date!

Dito on feeling like a circus! Can it get any crazier than this? (Yes, it probably can....)
Enjoy your date!

Just want to encourage you that if you feel pulled to try homeschooling...do it. It really isn't as scary as it seems at first and if you decide it isn't working, you can always put your child back in the public school system. There is a TON of support available these days for homeschooling parents.
Hope you enjoy your date! Oh and I will stop and pray now for your sweet Dennis.

Praying for God's leading on homeschooling. I know you could do it and do it with excellence but also know the call must be from Him.

Praying for peace to be all over Dennis today.

Thats how I feel right now too and I only have 1 in school. I just think that for them the party is just getting started because isn't summer vacation more fun than school. :) With Dennis and Alex I am not sure if you've posted or not on using starfall.com. Its a great site and geared towards kids beginning school. Also, Oksana is loving a program from school on the internet called Mathletics. She comes home and nearly falls over these days begging to play math games. I don't know how much a subscription is but when shes done school this year I'll be getting one for sure. I hope you have a wonderful evening on your date. :)

When does school let out there? Here kids go until June 25th or so and back in by the last few days in August.

The district I work for has an online school, same cirriculum they are doing in schools, but the kids are at home on the computer. Call your district and see if they have something like that where you live.

Good luck with the homeschooling...I've been toying with the idea myself. Have fun on your date!

I just want to encourage you, if you really feel led to homeschool; please know that God will guide your steps. Heart of Dakota is a great curriculum that is totally Christ centered and is one of the best things to ever happen to our family.

even if you just want to use some of their ideas to do some of the pre-k stuff at home, it's great.

Praying for your family as you work through this decision.
