On a Mission

Weekends are wonderful-- aren't they?

Julia had a friend spend the night. Saturday morning Julia practiced her recital pieces while they both sang at the top of their lungs. Near the end, John joined them too.

Rachel and Annalyn helped me organize the bookshelves.

It took a few hours, but the end result was awesome. We not only organized books by age and size, but we sorted through crayons, pens, pencils, and puzzle pieces.

John helped Anna and William with their fourth grade mission projects. He got them so pumped up that soon Andrew, Annalyn, and Adam were helping out too!
Early afternoon, Adam and Julia practiced their two recital songs that they are doing together.

Still working on mission projects. This was an all day thing.

Adam and Andrew were a big help.

John-- an awesome Dad and husband-- sportin' new glasses from Zenni Optical. Thanks to all of you who suggested the website!

It was neat to see the missions come together... piece by piece.

Anna and Annalyn really enjoyed the painting part of the project.

Can you recognize what two missions the kids made?

Alex and Dennis played outside nearly all day yesterday. Every time I glanced outside, the two boys made me smile.
For dinner, I made homemade waffles. The kids were thrilled of course!

Then back to the mission projects.

Finally around 7 pm. the crew called it quits for the day. They still have another week before they turn them in so they will finish them during that time. William was so sweet how he complimented his sister's mission without a competitive bone in his body. It is times like these that make parenting such a blessing. Today was full of smiles..... only one trial.

It is so much more fun for me to see the pictures in your blog now that I have been there. It's like I know exactly what you are talking about now!!!

Missions look like fun, but a lot of work!
Bookshelves look great, but a lot of work!
Julia and Adam practicing I know sounded wonderful, but a lot of work!
Little boys look fun, but a lot of work!

Guess the moral is all things worthwhile take work!!

I am so envious. That IS just what a weekend should be! Seems like no matter what I do, this year I have to work all day Saturday and Sunday. :(

I got home last night at 11 and had to leave the house this morning at 5. Do I feel sorry for myself? YES! (Can't you tell?)

Seeing the missions brought back my time in California. I loved going to Mission Santa Barbara on a weekday afternoon when no one was there but me.

Oh yes, weekends are the best!! We all look forward to them. In fact, when we are tucking the kids in on Thursday nights, they are already giggling anticipating the weekend.

Do they always work together so well or just for this project?

What a great weekend! I just told somehow today, who asked me how my weekend was, "It's hard to ever have a bad weekend when you have two great kids." Well, other than the weekend last month when our basement flooded! I know just what you mean about how particularly great it felt to see Alex and Dennis playing outside.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Zenni Optical! Glad it worked for you!

I also grew up in CA and still remember my Missions projects. When I was older, I didn't realize that Missions projects were only for California. Since we homeshool, I had my kids do them anyway, along with Texas History. LOL
