I am so excited. Just tucked the girls in and had to come and share. Miss O is going to do just fine here. I was told that she takes a while to fall asleep so when she took the play phone to bed I knew I had to address this issue. I told her in my broken Russian not to play in bed-- tomorrow we will have lots of time to play and she tucked the phone in the mattress slats in the bunkbed above her. Did I mention that she is very bright? Then when Julia went to the restroom she noticed the counter had a big gob of toothpaste and lots of water on it from when she brushed her teeth. I sweetly called Miss O to the bathroom and showed her the mess and how to clean it up. She seemed to understand and then happily went back to bed. Us girls enjoyed a conversation about what kinds of food we all like and that seemed to really break the ice for all of us.
I told her that tomorrow we would all play outside and perhaps even rollerskate. Her eyes perked up when I mentioned that. :)

Christine, you are such a good person. I was thinking about you the other night when I was watching "The Blind Side"..When her friends say.."You are changing that boys life"..and she says."no, he is changing mine". I have huge goosebumps right now.
One person can make such a huge difference in this big world, and you are living proof.

It sure sounds like this visit from Miss O is going to be lots of fun. Not only for her but also for your kids who in a few months time will be adjusting to another sibling possibly her same age. (Who knows) It will be good for all of them! I have heard that often times host children are adopted by the families or others in the community when they visit here. They do have to go back to Ukraine or their home country and then the families go back to get them. I hope that shes one of those lucky ones! :)
How is it that she is here with a group from her country during the school year? Are they all from an orphanage in the Ukraine?
What a blessing to have this opportunity!
Woohoo, have fun! I hope everyone will enjoy this week together!
♥ I was just thinking how much of a pain it is at bed time in my house with just 4 kids... I can't even imagine how long it takes around yours! She's sounds like a sweetie!!!
Hi! I'm just visiting from the blog frog, and I haven't had a chance to really dig into your blog yet, and it's getting late. So I wanted to tell you that this particular post stood out to me as being so sweet and such a good example of motherhood. I will definitely be back to read more...in the morning.
Until then, I'll go find your follow button!
