Dennis and Alex continue to build a bond that I am certain will stand the test of time--- and witnessing them together ministers to my heart in the most amazing ways. Just today Alex walked in from pre-school and Dennis was there to greet us.
"Give me a hug Dennis!"
And Dennis gave Alex the biggest hug before they walked off together to play. (walked off-- I love it)
And now that the weather has warmed up and the beautiful sun is shining, the kids are playing outside all the time. Watching Dennis help Alex climb the play place is just precious as is the two of them rolling around on the grass with our dogs.
They are both very verbal--- Dennis loves to say our dinner prayers and Alex praises Dennis every chance he gets. "Good job Dennis!"
Tonight both of the boys enjoyed having baby lotion rubbed on their arms, legs, and back when I was getting them ready for bed. They giggled the whole time! And then I tended to Dennis' scraped knee. It is hard to explain how nice it was just tending to a scraped knee instead of some of the more major owies I have had to care for with Dennis. It reminded me how even though he may have a few special needs he is just like every other child. To have a scraped knee is a normal part of childhood-- something I don't want to miss out on with my little guy. I kissed his owie over and over which he thought was cool. Hmmm, I cry owie and point to my knee and Mama kisses it. Do it again Mama! And so I did!
Alex and Dennis love having their pictures taken so that they can look at themselves afterwards.
Aren't they little hams?

Christine - you are doing the most fabulous job raising two adorable little boys!
So adorable! How precious! What a beautiful plan that the Lord had to bring them both into your home. I believe they really need each other, and the Lord will truly bless their relationship.
Laurel :)
They sure are developing a strong brotherly bond.
How nice that they are good friends as well as brothers.
I just love looking at pictures of those two adorable boys!! What a special bond they have and it almost brings tears to my eyes to read your post. They seem to be the best of buddies!
My little guys are so close too and I am so thankful we decided to adopt another little boy so my Ricky could grow up with a brother. They too have an amazing relationship!
They are certainly thriving! God is so good!
they are so cute! i just love how God gave them eachother and how they are going to grow up so close! they are so precious.
They are both so cute, I love seeing their big smiles, you sure are raising happy little guys. I read a quote once that made me think of your family and this post brought back the quote. "Small boys become big men from the influence of big men who care about small boys."
Also, from your last post about schooling for Sveta and Rachel. Thanks for that post, we are dealing the same issue with Oksana right now and the school here is fighting us on the issue. Oksana has been home 2 year this Aug and is "supposed" to go into grade 5 this fall. Acedemically, socially and emotionally if I was to name a spot shes "ready" to be in it would be grade 2 or 3. I would like to see her complete grade 4 again. Thus allowing her to have a better chance to fit in in all those areas and feel a bigger sence of accomplishment on her part because she will have seen much of the work before but have a second chance at it to grow from it allowing her self esteem to soar. The school is fighting me on this...why? Isn't it really the decision of the parent that places the child in a situation such as this?
They are adorable! It's so nice to hear how wonderfully they get along.
They are completely adorable and looks SO healthy and well loved! :) Love seeing them together!
Tooooooo sweet :) I love to see how the boys truly enjoy each other! I tell ya, kids with spina bifida have very unique personalities. My Jacob is the happiest kid too!
I was thinking of something we do in our family that you might really enjoy. We went to a family Christian concert by www.pedereide.com. He gave ideas on ways you can include worship of Christ in your family. One idea is the blessing cup. Each night at supper, someone different in our family gets the cup. The person with the cup listens to each of the other family members share something they love, appreciate, etc about him/her. It is awesome. Thought you might enjoy that idea :)
