Dennis Today

Thank you for your prayers. Dennis' surgery site is healing nicely. He is looking more handsome everyday. But he is still my chunk-o-love!

He has been going to pre-school twice a week that specializes in speech. This has made a huge difference. Our little boy talks--- and talks-- and talks. You should just hear him when he gets on the phone-- he will talk your ear off if you let him! Of course it is not always easy to understand what he is saying-- but if you are around him long enough you learn to understand his language. The point is-- he is talking! He also repeats what we say--- usually two or three times. It is so cute to hear! Maybe I'll take a video of him next time he talks to his Daddy--- whom he absolutely adores and never tires talking on the phone to. :)

When I think back to when he first came home with you and how far he has come. Shows what a loving family and good US medical care can do. Thank you for such a great post about Dennis today.

At nursery school I had a friend with cleft palate too, we really liked each other and spend all the time playing togheter, when we first met he was to young to attend speech therapy classes, so it was a little hard to understand him, but not for me, I was used to his sounds that were clear to me, I still remember my teacher puzzled expression watching us talk togheter. To me it was just so natural, and now when me and Danilo meet, we know we still share a special bond, I was his very special friend, the one that considered "strange" the look on other people face when we talked to each other
