Last night I went and got a haircut. I was prepared to get only a trim like back in September, but was pleased to find out that I had the 10 inches needed to donate to Locks of Love. My neck is a little cold, but I think I like the new look. :)
Oh my gosh Christine, you are so cute with short hair as well, no fair!! Initially when I saw the first pic, from the back, I thought "oh no, why'd she do that". Then when I read Locks of Love, well that explained it. But then I saw your pic from the front. Toooo cute. What does John think of it? Will your hair stay short or will you start growing it again?
I like the new haircut. My daughter, who is now 10 just had 14 inches cut off, and we were able to donate it. I want you to know. You inspire me. I have 6 children, and I homeschool the last three of them. The others have gotten married and started families of their own. I have one that is getting married in March. I add the grandkids into the mix all the time. I am not your typical Nanny, but we do have fun. My youngest is younger than my oldest grandson. Thank you for your steadfastness, and determination to do Gods will in your life.
That's fantastic! I can't wait to cut my hair, but I'm not sure if I'm at the 10" mark yet. Plus, it was 26 degrees here today, so I think I'll wait until it is warmer.
It looks great! Thanks for donating. We are dealing with cancer in our family, although we won't be needing hair that's been donated. But, I do know that whoever receives your hair will be so grateful!
I'm so glad Dennis is doing well after surgery.
And, I'm so impressed by how far Alex has come in his walking!
Hi Christine, Love the new hair cut. Looks great. I recently brought home our 4 year old daughter from Russia. She has only been home for three weeks and it has been very challenging at times. I find your blog to be so informative, helpful, and inspiring. Thanks for sharing. Laura
Very nice! My girls and I have all donated to Locks of Love.
I know I rarely comment any more (you have so many who do), but I continue to follow your blog regularly and include you and your family in my prayers.
LOVE it, Christine!!! Just FYI, Pantene has a similar program that only requires 8". Our daughter did that one a while back b/c she only had 9" to donate. Pantene's program is only for women with cancer while Locks of Love is for kids.
love it :) 10 inches, huh? I'll be doing that here eventually... Eric doesn't want me to go short just yet though. I love yours, no nonsense and hip and if I may so, sexy too :)
I think it was a beautiful thing to do on your part (and the new cut looks stunning on you, as well).
I do have my reservations about Locks Of Love. Or rather, with people's perception of them (which they don't bother to change because it works in their favor).
For one, the wigs they make don't go to children with cancer, as they consider cancer to be "a temporary condition". They mainly go to people with alopecia. Which is fine also, don't get me wrong, but they keep working the "CHILDREN WITH CANCER" angle because apparently it tugs at people's heartstrings more. That is deceitful and exploitative, in my opinion.
There are several more issues, such as the fact that the wigs are NOT give for free, and the fact that they are NOT qualified as a charitable organization (and the vast majority of the hair that is donated gets sold for profit, not made into wigs).
Since a couple of people mentioned cancer in connection to Locks Of Love, I thought I might post the info. I do think it's a worthy cause, but it's not quite what people think it is. They basically market themselves as "we give wigs to children with cancer for free" when in fact they are not for free, and they are not given to kids with cancer at all.
I hope you don't take this the wrong way because I do think what you did was very good. My main issue with this "charity" is that it takes advantage of well-meaning people like you.
Looks amazing! I bet your head felt so light after such a cut! I was going to say you'll be so much cooler, but then remembered that it's winter there!
oh my goodness i LOVE It!!! I'm going to cut mine off on thursday - i have highlighted mine so locks of love won't take it. :( or so i've read...it looks beautiful!!

That was an organization that I always wanted to donate to, but alas it was not to be. Proud of you for thinking of it.
Peace
