Yet.... I Think He Was Always Beautiful

Dennis is our youngest munchkin----- and has probably been through the most. He is one amazing little guy------ God blessed me beyond measure when he allowed me to become his Mom. My little guy is coming up to another surgery on January 7th--- his second time he will be needing to stay overnight. I am concerned of course, yet I trust that he will be okay. Over time, I had forgotten what exactly he looked like when we first brought him home. His past surgeries also seemed to be a vague memory.

This was a picture of Dennis before his first surgery to remove his right eye.

This is how he looked afterwards-- happy as can be of course!

Then he had his cleft palate repaired in December 2008. In March, he had his most transforming surgery to date.

Only two short weeks later, he had to have yet another surgery.

And this is what he looked like at the end of March.

After that, he got his prosthetic eye. Wow!

Soon after, he had a minor surgery to close up his eye a bit more.
Here is how Dennis is doing today!

I think he is absolutely adorable---- blue lollipop mouth and all!

Praise God for this precious boy's life.

Praying for you all as you get closer to this next surgery. He has certainly changed quite a bit but has stayed so much the little cutie he always was! His smile always makes me smile back at the computer screen!

I agree, Dennis looks so cute on every picture - but how his face has changed is amazing. He was cute to start with, and is cuter still even today.

Thank God he has you. And thank God He blessed you with him.

he is beautiful in every way. to me, it's like we're seeing more and more Dennis for who he really is, with each change. if that makes any sense at all. that will probably cause someone to rant, but whatever - I trust you know what I mean. :) he is a treasure and yours is a treasure of a family.

He is a most precious child. I will never forget the look on his face that day I did childcare at MUGS. He was just playing nicely and then you came in the door and he looked up and saw you and I swear he said, "Mama" or something like that and the look on his face was pure joy. That was just burned in my brain.

Christine,
He is a beautiful boy, and always has been. It's wonderful to see the pictures lined up so you can see his progress and how much he has endured. You are truly blessed to parent this little guy, but he is also lucky to have become a part of such a wonderful family! Praying for him to have a quick recovery from his next surgery.

He's beautiful. Then and now. He's changed so much, he barely looks like the same kid now. I think how much he's grown has something to do with that.

Good luck with your surgery Denis!

I have loved the adorable Dennis from afar since you first introduced him to us. He gets more beautiful not just through his surgeries (and I agree that he has always been a beauty) but moreso through his personality which gets more beautiful in knowing him. I admire this brave boy so much. God bless you all. A happy new year to the Reeds and I hope Jan 7 signals a healthy and happy 2010 for you all.

P.S. I have always meant to say that ALL your children always look so well and beautifully dressed in all your blog photos. Well done to you all!

Thank you for sharing. I am studying cleft lip/cleft palate and have worked in Dentistry for 16 years without ever seeing the effects in person. I am now heading to healthcare and hope to change some lives. Keep your power of postive thoughts and my prayers are with you and your son. Where there is Hope there is change.... where there is belief there is life! God bless. KNY
