We Are a Family of Jelly Beans

It's that time of the year again. Julia and Adam are practicing for their recital. This year they will be playing "From the Inside Out", "In Christ Alone", and "You Are Good." I can't wait!

Alex and Dennis made a portrait of our family.

We look like a bunch of Jelly Beans!

Alex and Dennis bring home so much stuff from pre-school. So much artwork accumulates on my van dashboard, kitchen counter, and coffee table, that I quickly get overwhelmed as to what to do with it. I can only hang so much up on the walls before I have to start throwing it away.

But not before I snap a picture of it. Here is Alex's foot. I think it is beautiful.

Last night I made pork chops stewed in garlic, onions, and Apple juice. They were very tender.

I know, you will probably ask for the recipe-- I'm working on it. My goal is to put together a unique and Mommy-friendly cookbook. I can wish.

We still have pomegranates everyday. Last night a delicious pomegranate salad accompanied the pork chops.

It is amazing to watch these two peel pomegranates. They do it with such ease.

This is just one of the many ways my kids like to bug each other.
Adam fixed it and moved on. It is when his shoe ends up in the freezer that he decides it is time to get back at his sister.

Dennis was put in his third timeout for the morning.
Within two minutes he was conked out. Guess I know why he was being such a little stinker.

C. the catherization is prbably causing the urinary tract infection. I am a ped nurse and many times this is what causes it. they are very painful, have him drink some cranberry juice as well.

Dennis looks like a 5 year old sleeping in this photo, how tall is he? how much weight has he gained since you brought him home?

He looks like he will be quite tall. What are the doctors saying about his height?

Upside down picture made me laugh!! Love the boys artwork. I can't keep all my daughters either so I always take a picture. Someday I'll make an album of it....

The grands always have so many treasures for us that at the end of their visit I ask them to pick one "Special" item to go in my special scrapbook. I was tossing the rest ... but now will be photographing them first. Thanks for sharing the brilliant idea.

Your jelly bean family is beautiful.

It's like you read my mind - I DO want the recipe, especially now that you mentioned it :-)

I would also love to hear more about the pomegranate salad - sounds yummy! I once ate a really delicious chicken stew made from chicken, walnuts, and pomegranates called fezanjan (it's Persian/Iranian) and I can picture your family really liking it, especially since you have access to fresh pomegranates and walnuts.

The upside down pics brought back memories for me... although we did it to annoy my MOM, who would go berserk if we touched those pictures!!

Pomagranates are too expensive here in CT to use any way but to just eat them. A few weeks ago I priced them and they were $2.50 each! Think I'll buy one when I shop this weekend as reading your blog put me in the mood for one.

I like to cook pork chops in the crock pot with applesauce. I first brown them and the onions. It's similar to your recipe. Delicious.

I agree that Dennis looks tall.

To help with managing all the artwork with the kids over the years I let them pick two of their (or mine) favorite pieces per year and frame it and use it as pictures in their room. The rest we take pictures of and throw away after a few weeks. Framing those special ones makes them feel special too.

Sounds like a lovely meal. For us a pomegranite is a strange, exotic fruit that we just MIGHT find in a Christmas stocking.

I don't eat pork chops, but your recipe looks very yummy!

Hi Christine, I love the upside down photos - that's the sort of thing we'd have done to each other as children if we'd thought of it!

Artwork - I don't get very much back at all these days, but friends who do now take a photo of every piece, and put the printed photo into a special artwork photo album. Wonder if that'd be an option for you? With a sturdy album it'd probably be more accessible to the boys too than the original fragile art.

Cathing will make Alex's life so much easier, but there is a risk of repeated UTI's. I had 12 in the last 6 years.

Your family is such cute jellybeans.

BY the way, did your kids rock themselves? I'd love any advice. (Isabel sucks two fingers and rocks.)
