Trying New Things

Adam and I made white chocolate dipped pretzels. Easy and delicious.

I saw this idea on another blog and decided to do it with the kids.
We sorted out the broken crayons by color and removed the paper.

Next, I melted them in the oven.
Now these crayons are nice and big to color with. The brown one is sitting on our counter in a Reece's Peanut Butter Cup wrapping disguise. I wonder who the lucky kid will be who gets a mouthful of wax?

Jessica is using white almond bark colored orange to make pretzels for treat bags for teachers and bus drivers Friday. We always try to think of those who get overlooked on holidays. And none of the kids--not even Jasmine--have school parties this year.

The croyons look like they would be fun to make. The dipped pretzels look great too.

Yummy, love chocolate covered pretzels! The crayon idea is really neat, I like the way they turned out. :)

Hey, fun joke with the Reese's! Let us know who bites into it!

The crayons are cool. I've been thinking of doing that myself, since my boys refuse to use crayons once they break. Can you reuse those silicon cups for food after the wax?

If that "Reese's Cup" were in my kitchen, I would be the one getting tricked!

Haven't commented in a while. Been praying for the ones who are sick and I think I will try the crayon melting. That's neat!

I bet the white chocolate pretzels were wonderful. I just love white chocolate.

Neat idea about the old crayons.

Funny, we're thinking of doing chocolate covered pretzels for some Christmas gifts.

I love the crayon idea! Do you put anything in the liners so they don't stick? How high for how long in the oven? Approximately, anyway, thanks.

I'm glad your crew is on the mend.

very creative! Next you can post a picture of a crayon drawing!

We tried this and our crayons didn't seem to work very well. They kind of slid across the paper, rather than drawing. Hope y'alls work out better than ours did.

I make those pretzels and crayons all of the time!

I've done the crayons before but I used paper liners (doubled). Candy molds also make really neat crayons.

When my sisters and I were little, my mom would melt our old crayons and make them into new ones as well. She would put them in those different shaped candy molds...so we'd have like flower shaped crayons or Christmas trees, etc. :)

We used to make old crayons into candles. I remember making sand candles at the beach. Dig a hole in wet sand, embed sea shells on the sides of the hole, tie a wick on a stick and hang it across the hole, then melt a whole bunch of crayons over a fire (which most beaches do not allow anymore), and pour it in the hole. Cool completely. When dug out excess sand rinsed off, we had an awesome beach candle! I wonder if we can translate that to desert candles?

Those look like fun. But just a thought, broken crayons are great for help with fine-motor skills! It forces the proper "pencil-grip" because there's no other way to hold it!

Try taking two ritz crackers and putting peanut butter in the middle then cover them in milk and white chocolate. They are wonderful, or mini marshmellows.
