Respite and Open to Adoption

If you are willing to provide respite and are also open to adopting the child you provide the respite for, please contact me. I am specifically looking for families who are interested in children older than six and that live in Idaho or Illinois. Thanks!

I know I am on the other end of the country from you... but God has really been working in my heart. I did respite last summer for an 11 yr old.(not adopted or foster, just extremely ODD) I have done a weekend here and there in the past 2 yrs.
Currently I don't have room for older kids. I have an extra crib and thats it! But I am looking at rental houses with the thought of doing respite.
I will be praying for you as you help parents find that right caregiver.

Christine, we are in Ohio but keep us in mind if you ever have a need for someone from this area.

Definitely would consider respite esp. for girls and possible adoption considering child and issues etc.

Christine,
I live in Illinois and though I can't do respite right now, I wanted to tell you about Our Children's Homestead. They work with the 'hard to place' kiddos and I think they have a respite program?????
I know they were working on one when I did my foster training through them.
Here's their number: 630-369-0004.
Not sure who to ask for though.

Well, you know me....

Though, I have decided that if we add to the family, the child needs to be the youngest...or close, ten or younger...

Probably...

Christine,

We live in Idaho (near Boise) and are special education teachers. We have summers off and would consider doing respite.

Additionally, we only have 1 child who is 7... we haven't been able to have any others. Plus (if you remember) I am a birthmother to an 18 year old girl who I placed for open adoption at birth.

So, needless to say, we're pretty aware of adoption issues, special needs, etc.
