Happy Birthday Jonny!

We celebrated Jonny's 6th birthday today! We all had a blast!

Everyone could hardly wait to get inside and skate!

The birthday boy was so excited to use his new skates that Grandma and Grandpa bought for him.

We did an early morning kid skate so there was hardly anyone there. It was nice having lots of room to stretch out and move freely. Alex and Dennis had fun being out on the floor in their double stroller!

We all took turns pushing the little boys as fast as we could!

Cousin Jenn and Matt joined us too!

Of course, we started a train!

And we all danced to the music!

They even had a bounce house for the kids to play in.

There were lots of games to play including-- the Limbo!

Rachel made it....

Daddy didn't.

Rachel lost in the next round but as you can tell she was a great sport.

Julia made it!

Jonny didn't.

In the end-- three Reed kids won sodas!
Jonny and his friend Logan sharing a soda!

Dennis could have drank the whole soda if I let him!

John suggested the kids fly like birds!

Hey what can I say-- I grew up rollerskating!

So did Cousin Jenn.

It was so great to see all of the kids have such a good time.

Getting ready for Red Light, Green Light.

It was a tense game for everyone!

Julia was the first to win a soda.

"Oh no you don't," Adam was thinking.

William lost at the game and was having a hard time accepting it. I was able to calm him down, but my heart hurt for him like always. On one hand, I completely understand how he is feeling, but on the other hand I just wish that he would, that he could, not overreact about such trivial things such as not winning a game. We have yet to find a way to avoid him getting in these moods because just like any kid, he likes to play games--- yet as he gets older his frustrations are beginning to intensify and so I am having to use loving yet firm restraint with him to keep him from going off and kicking something. This time it was pretty easy getting him to move on---telling him how I lost most games when I was a kid, and now that I am all grown up, it makes it easier for me to understand how he is feeling, just like he will have a greater understanding of how his kids will feel when they don't win at everything. I reminded him that by believing in God he has already won the greatest prize of all.

Dennis didn't mind that he didn't have any quarters for the machines-- he just played and played.

Caleb and Adam

After skating, we went back to our house for lunch and pinata fun!
Look at Andrew our acrobat!
Caleb is an awesome big brother. He made sure that Alex had a bag to collect candy.
Alex was first to hit the pinata! He swung hard!

Andrew managed to knock off one of Spongebob's legs.
Before the taller kids had the chance to hit the pinata, Sveta cracked it open! Don't worry, they were good sports!

John wasted no time dumping out the candy for all the kids!

Who is the kid here? :) This is why I love him so much!

Jonny loved blowing out his candle!
He loved opening all of his presents!
Happy Birthday my big boy! We love you so much!

Aww looks like a great time was had by all. I would be surprised if there WEREN'T hurt feelings on an outing with that many kiddos. It is the little things that kids remember not fancy store bought cakes & plates.. but "Hey mom, remember that time you fell on your butt skating at my birthday!?!?" except you're too graceful for that.. ha that would be me that falls on my butt skating ;) Despite what mr. or mrs anonymous usually has to say.. GOOD FOR YOU & these kids, I know the life you give them in more than they would have ever hoped for had they not been "rescued". Alex is doing so very well, I am amazed! He is thriving under your care and it is beautiful to see.

Wow, I'm the first blogger to wish Jonny a very Happy Birthday (probably a bit late now though). Poor William. I know just how he feels. It puts you off sport a bit when you have to be prepared to lose all of the time.

What an awesome party! I'm glad everyone had fun, though I do feel bad for William . . . I used to get very frustrated at losing all the time, as well.

Your family always has such a good time when you go to the roller skating rink.

Happy birthday to Jonny.

Happy Birthday! How cute is he! My son has Autism and he finds it so hard to understand losing! And again, he loves to play games and be included but can't accept when he loses...which is also often because of his learning difficulties. You look like you're doing a great job at explaining it to him! Bless his heart!
I hope Johnny had the best day! :o)

What a fun birthday party.

I also have a son who has a hard time losing. Breaks my heart when they get so upset.

Thanks for sharing all the photos. They were fun to look at.

Happy late Bday to Jonny! & big congrats to Sveta for being the one to 'pop the pinata'! (Great pics!)Maybe next year it will be William but in the meantime, I'm sure he's getting great kudos for the many things he excels at daily. Looks like a great party all round. & oh yeah, like ashleyjnc said, my older kids (now in 20's) also bring up my goofs rather than memories of any fancy party stuff that I did back then ... ie: slipping off a river stepping stone while seriously explaining how to safely walk on them... & ensuing mud covered clothes! Doh. :) Never mind the fact that the little ones have a few stories about me that the older ones don't. One is something about accidental 'bodily hot air' Haha. It's great that all your kids are growing up together in your family, even with the daily trials. Continued strength & love to you!
