I am not sure what went wrong. I put a chuck roast on to cook for a few hours and then added carrots and potatoes during the last hour of cooking. Normally, my roasts turn out great but today was anything but normal. Even the potatoes were still raw (even after additionally microwaving them for 10 minutes). The only thing I can think of that made it cook differently was the roaster I used-- but that is me grasping for straws. I think I would rather just face the fact that not everything I cook turns out great.
I wanted to entertain you with some of the comments made at the dinner table. Don't get the wrong impression...... John has taught the kids well to be thankful and appreciative of any and all meals, but tonight's meal was really bad, and I was the first to say so. After that, the kids knew it was okay to make their cute little jokes.
"No offense Mom, but I wouldn't mind if you yelled at me to go and brush my teeth," Annalyn said as she picked meat out between her teeth.
As we cleared off the table, I opened the screen door and chucked out a piece of the chuck roast (ha, ha) and the dog picked it up and started chewing on it. Anna then said, "Hey look. They like your food. But I wonder if they are going to get the meat stuck between their teeth too?"

I made almost the same thing yesterday but I put mine in the crock pot. It was great! Sorry yours didn't turn out so well.
One of the most diplomatic husbands (not mine) once said to his wife, "That was nice dear, but I wouldn't want it every year".
I guess even great cooks aren't great all the time, huh? Annalyn's comment made me laugh.
LOL too funny. My hubby is too sweet if I make something that does not turn out most often he wont say anything unless I make the comment this is bad, but as the true submarine sailor he is he will eat most anything set before him and not complain at all LOL.
Unfortunately,
this happens to me a little more than I would like to admit. ;)
great post :) I love the photo :D
it´s actually fine that our lives aren´t perfect, because if everything went well, we would have nothing to blog about :) :)
have a great perfect day :D
Maxim complained about the dollar bologna I bought. I was irritated, but thought - Oh, well... I can get the Kroger brand for just a bit more than that, and Maxim doesn't complain much. I put the remainder of the bologna in the dog's dish. When it was still there the next morning, I rather ashamedly had to admit that the poor boy was probably right - not fit for man nor beast!
