Just Listen

Julia is a talented musician. At just eleven years old she has proven that she has a special gift. Back when she was 9 years old she wanted to give up piano, and I was supportive of her decision-- but her Dad was not. He encouraged her in ways that only a Dad can and now she enjoys playing just for the sheer pleasure it brings (not because she has too). Imagine that?

This a short video of her playing one of my favorite songs, "Indescribable."

Here are the lyrics.

From the highest of heights to the depths of the sea
Creation's revealing Your majesty
From the colors of fall to the fragrance of spring
Every creature unique in the song that it sings
All exclaiming
Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name.
You are amazing God
All powerful, untamable,
Awestruck we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim
You are amazing God
Who has told every lightning bolt where it should go
Or seen heavenly storehouses laden with snow
Who imagined the sun and gives source to its light
Yet conceals it to bring us the coolness of night
None can fathom
Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name
You are amazing God
All powerful, untamable,
Awestruck we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim
You are amazing God
You are amazing God
Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name.
You are amazing God
All powerful, untamable,
Awestruck we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim
You are amazing God
Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name.
You are amazing God
Incomparable, unchangeable
You see the depths of my heart and You love me the same
You are amazing God
You are amazing God

I love that song! Very encouraging to hear about Julia. Our 10-year old daughter has been playing for three years and has wanted to quit many times. She is now starting to make progress also. I love listening to the music she plays now and she is enjoying it more also.

That was great! As a piano teacher of several years, I have experienced weathering through with students many many times. It is so worth it all!! I always tell prospective piano parents that playing piano is very therapeutic, as indeed it is. Soothes the soul. So happy for Julia and her musical talents. Happy for dedicated parents who make those lessons possible... It's a WIN-WIN situation, hooray!

Smiling, Jen

Beautiful.
What tiny bit I know about Julia from your blog gives me such HOPE for the young lady that the Lord put in my life.
While she is not my daughter, I love her still and am thankful to have the opportunity to see the HEALING that the Lord is doing in her heart.
Julia's is a story of HOPE...a story of Healing and a story of beauty unfolding.
Thank you for sharing her talent with us.

She's wonderful...so is that amazing music school. What a blessing to you!

Reminds me of how Craig and I had to force Aidan to roller blade around the block. He'd wanted roller blades but wouldn't use them enough to learn how to skate well. Boy, did we feel cruel! But it was all worth it - he got onto a roller hockey team which he just loved...and his goalie skills led into lacrosse and he ended up coaching! All because we "made" him skate.
