He Just Wants to Sleep

We are home now and have been for a few hours. Dennis is very tired and has been asleep since we left the hospital. He only woke up twice to cry for a second before he fell back asleep.

I told you Dennis would be a happy guy this morning. This time they didn't even need to give him any Versed before they took him into surgery.

They came and got me just as they were wheeling him into recovery because he was already crying for his Mommy. As soon as I got to him and started kissing his cheek and whispering into his ear, he stopped. It was so nice to know that I was able to comfort him.

We got to leave after about 50 minutes in recovery----- they remember me telling them how well he does once we leave.

As soon as we got home, Daddy wanted him for awhile.

Dennis is such a trooper.

Anna is so sweet--- she keeps giving him kisses.
The doctor sewed the new prosthetic eye in place. I think this one looks way more natural and should be more comfortable for him too. Now his eyelid just has to stretch back out a bit---- it is only a matter of time.

BUT WAIT, I was looking at your profile on Frooah because I know what you will say about a certain thread....AND YOU ARE 33???What?? How am I seven years older than you, and have no idea what I am doing?? You are just a baby, you should not have this much insight!
Dennis is so lucky that you can whisper and comfort him!
Later I want to email you about that thread....

I'm so glad the surgery is over and all is well. There is nothing quite so beautiful as a sleeping baby. Dennis looks so peaceful.

Christine, I just caught up with your recent posts. I've just been so busy and not checking the blogs in a while. Wonderful to see all the kids and read the stories. What a change in Dennis with these recent surgeries. I will pray for a speedy recovery. God bless!

oh. Poor buddy. I sure wish there was an easier way for him to get the reconstruction he needs. I'm so glad he is getting his eye worked on, and his mouth fixed, so he can function well and be healthy, but I'd rather doctors had magic... *ting!* all better! next!... He's such a good boy... give him extra kisses from us, please Anna?! Lots of love too!

So glad he is doing well. I know I have commented about this before, but whenever I read about Dennis' reactions following surgeries, etc. I can not help but think of the wisdom that God gave you when deciding to wait a while before beginning his surgeries. You gave him the time he needed to bond. I can not imagine him not being a Reed:) I will be praying for him to quickly feel back to himself and be up to his old tricks;)
