A Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day! Hope you were made to feel appreciated and loved today.

Before church, my kids wanted me to open the gifts that they had either bought me or made.

In previous years my husband has helped the kids out-- but this year they were totally on their own--- and they all did a really nice job of making me feel special.

I got beautiful cards, lots of flowers, coupons for foot rubs, back massages, and chores, and the most comfortable, stylish shoes that I tried on a few weeks ago when I was with Caleb and Adam at a store that I was too cheap to buy for myself. They also got me a stackable cupcake holder because 12 just isn't enough for our family anymore!

After a bit of loud bickering over a video game this morning at 7:00 am, the kids turned the day around.

When John took William shopping to buy me something, John showed William a nice pack of hangers for $6.00. William agreed that they were nice, but then he found a pack that was only $1.00. He told John, "I think Mom will like these much more because they only cost $1.00 instead of $6.00." :) And William was right--- they were perfect!

Later in the day, we went rollerskating because it was free today! We went after a few of the kids napped. Four minutes down the road, Adam nonchalantly informs John and I that Andrew is not in the car. I quickly turned the van around and sped home. (Oh shoot, I thought!) John quickly went inside to find Andrew still asleep in his bed----- thank God. He woke him up and then we left for the rink as a family of 13------ believe me I counted.

So......... what did you do for Mother's Day?

You are doing a great job teaching your children that being frugal and creative are important. I love how they found practical gifts that you love and they really thought about.

Children are really like the arrows in a hero's hand: you are making this world better by raising them.

I have a dear friend who, with only seven children, is prone to lose one or two! It is a running joke at church. When she had her last child, I got her a key chain with a big number 7 on it.

Frankly, I am CONSTANTLY counting my kids - despite the fact that only two of them would really be distressed to be "left" or "lost" for a few minutes. I don't know how you do it in that regard.

We had a great time with kids, grandkids and daughter's in law. :)
Flowers, food, necklaces and good times talking. DGD gave us her answer to how her daddy got out of gramma's tummy. :) Pretty funny.

Great day.

PS- we left one at a pizza parlor long ago. :)

I posted some Mothers Day photos today too. I did some gardening with my husband's help (yay!) and we took a long walk as a family.

I spent the day in the emergency room. The baby has a horrible case of the KROOP, and it came upon her so quickly!
It was good though, a little time with just the two of us and a breathing machine, some steriods, and a few doctors and nurses!

I thought "Home Alone" only happened in the movies! That is too funny! ;) Your mother's day sounded wonderful, you are blessed! We all are, right? We either have great moms or we are a great mom (or at least we have great kids!).

What a wonderful day! I love how William thought so carefully about what you`d like, he`s obviously paying attention to what you do. :)

My day was spent working, as I had too many deadlines not to. The highlight was when I tried to explain to my 3 year old, Dorian, what Mother`s Day is . . . like a birthday for moms. He said, "It`s like a birthday? Then it`s MY day, too, I want cake!"
