Flarpin' the Guitar

Flarp is fun to play with.

But it is not so fun when you get it in your hair. Miss Anna begged me to help comb the Flarp out of her hair. Thankfully, we didn't have to cut it.

Dennis loves sleeping in his bed. He doesn't even get up until one of us go in and get him. Kind of like when he was in his playpen.

Jonny, Julia, Andrew, William, and Anna having fun in the sun.

The kids took turns trying to walk on water (with the pool cover on) while John and I supervised. The kids had a blast!

Adam has started giving Julia guitar lessons. We are paying him for 1/2 hour lessons so by fall Julia can hopefully join intermediate guitar instead of beginners. This is a win-win for all of us because we are saving money, Adam is earning money, and Julia can learn the basics at a much quicker pace. This will also give Adam some experience as a teacher so that he can teach beginning music to other kids.

I read the title and just had visions of trying to get Flarp off of guitar strings! Eek. I guess getting it out of hair has got to be worse, though

When I was a little girl, my parents bought me Slime - it was great. But when I dropped it in the grass, my big sister thought she would be smart and tried to strain it through the screen for the sliding glass door my dad had laying across sawhorses to fix. Yeah, didn't work. Dad wasn't very happy when he saw the screen door, either... ah, the good old days...:)

that looks like so much fun to walk on the pool cover! what's flarp? is it like silly putty? I wish I had a big brother to teach me guitar :)

I hope the kids don't try walking on the cover unsupervised ...dangerous. I'm sure it was a fun contest though and I know you and John were watching, I'm just hoping they know they can only do it when you're there to watch. I'd hate for you to lose any of them.

I've never heard of Flarp. It looks the same as Slime...is it?

Dennis looks so cute sleeping in his bed.

Dennis is getting to be so big :) Great photos of all the kids too. Kudos for Adam for teaching. One of the best ways to improve your own skills, is to teach - Go Adam!

I think the guitar lesson idea is awesome! BTW, Flarp is funny but truly messy! The toot noise it makes in the little container is priceless! But when you take it out of it's little home. . .glad you didn't have to cut her hair!

That is so great that Adam is teaching Julia! Sounds win-win to me. I want my daughter, Kristen to teach me! Maybe we'll work on it this summer.

Jessica was going to teach Jasmine to play the recorder but she just doesn't have the patience for it. At least not with her own sister!

Uuggh, I can't stand flarp! That noise just gets to be too much by about the hundredth time in a row! :) My oldest got silly putty in his hair a couple years ago and we ended up having to cut it out.

It's neat to see Adam teaching Julia guitar. Great idea.

Dennis is adorable :)

What guitar book is Adam using to teach Julia with? My daughter and I are learning to play the guitar we got for Christmas. She is taking lessons but I'd like to supplement with a good practise book, if anyone has a good one, they'd recommend.

I am so happy it is time to go in the pool again. My kids have been enjoying that as well.

The guitar lesson idea is great. I wish you lived closer and I would defintely pay him to teach my 10 year old. He has been asking to learn the guitar for about a year. The mean mom that I am, I make him take piano with his sister. Pure torture!
