Dennis wanted an ice-cream float just like everyone else. "Please big brother Adam, get me some ice-cream."

I don't know about you guys, but it feels like summer is already here. And boy is our family enjoying light and refreshing meals like this. I made a big bowl of Taco Salad for dinner the other night--- and it was a huge hit! Served with fresh strawberries and blackberries, I got more compliments on this meal than on the last five combined! I especially love Catalina dressing drizzled on it. Yummy!

Here is one of my favorite pictures of Dennis back in December 2008.

He was gorgeous then, and I think he is gorgeous now. I especially love his beautiful hair--- why did I have to go and cut it?

Well it is official! I feel like I can finally share the news. My cousin Matt (he's practically my brother considering his mother is my Dad's sister and his Dad is my Mom's brother) and his wonderful wife Jen are moving right next to us. We can see their house from our backyard!
How cool is that? They are awesome folk---- and our kids love them to death! What a blessing to have them moving up here to be next to us.

Today Dennis, Jonny, and I spent the day at the ocularist. After talking with Dennis' surgeon it was determined that as soon as the surgeon worked on Dennis' eye again, the mold that the ocularist took before the surgery would not be accurate. (Duh, what was I thinking?) So, the ocularist made Dennis a new prosthetic eye called a conformer that I think the surgeon will put in place and then do a canthopexy that will essentially sew up each side of the eye and will keep the prosthetic in place while Dennis recovers from the operation--- which is about six weeks. This surgery is scheduled for next Friday. Then after those six weeks, Dennis will probably have another in and out lip repair at which time the ocularist will take a mold of Dennis' finished eye and make him his permanent prosthetic eye.
Pretty amazing stuff if you ask me.

God bless you, Christine!
I will be praying for Dennis during his next surgery and of course for you to have the strength to get through another long day. I know how hard surgeries can be, not only on our children but on us as Mom's.
Love in Christ,

Amazing and exhausting! Probably for you, most of all.
That dinner idea looks great.
What exciting times! And you mean Dennis is going to get even more handsome? Not possible, surely - he's already so adorable! I'll be praying for him throughout the surgery and recovery!

Hi Christine,
I am a big fan of your blog...I'm 21 and not married and don't have children but I hope to adopt when that time comes! I have two younger cousins who were both adopted from the US and they are such a blessing! I came across this article on the homepage of MSN and wondered if you had any thoughts/comments on it? http://www.slate.com/id/2217608/?Gt1=38001

You all must be so happy to have your cousins moving into the neighborhood. Do they have children?
I'll be thinking of Dennis when he has his next surgery.
