Julia and Dennis enjoyed swinging in the sunshine.

Andrew, Annalyn, and Jonny made a fort in our front yard. They had music blasting too! I am sure our neighbors loved it!

Julia continues to work hard on her fundraising orders. Rachel has had a few requests too! I am proud of them for working so hard!

Dennis continues to heal after his surgery and is no longer needing pain medication, so I can't figure out what is going on at night. The antibiotics I am using seem to be working and his incision doesn't look quite so raw anymore. But lately, Dennis has been waking up through out the night, and he cries. Two nights ago, I couldn't get him to really go back to sleep so I brought him to our bed where he fell right to sleep.
Soon after that Andrew woke up screaming and crying and having to go to the bathroom. He went and though we tucked him back into bed, he kept crying as if he was still having a bad dream. I picked him up and talked to him until he was fully awake, then he asked if he could sleep in our room. Good thing we have an extra queen bed in our bedroom!

Rachel enjoys spoiling Dennis. She feeds him little ice chips so that he will sit with her on this chair and watch tv with her. It is so cute.

Yesterday, I took Caleb to the orthodontist. He choose purple rubber bands.

The weather has been nice and sunny. At 76 degrees it is still a bit cold for me to consider swimming, but not for the kids.

Even Caleb jumped in!

Today we went and had our fingerprints taken at two different places so that we could finish up our adoption paperwork. The kids were so good that we went out for lunch afterwards. Anna and Adam were at their friends' houses so they missed out. For all of us to eat at Wendy's mostly off the dollar menu, it cost us $42.00. If Adam and Anna were with us, it would have cost around $50.00. Not too bad..... and certainly a treat that we try to do at least once or twice a month.

While I went grocery shopping, (and Daddy was watching the kids) Dennis got into my heart shaped brownie tins. That little turkey!

Dennis loves his baths! He is so brave the way he puts his face in the water. He tries to stay in for as long as he can by laying down and hiding underneath the water. I gave him a haircut the other night and I think he is looking like such a big boy nowadays!
And his smile is even cuter!
Andrew and Jonny wanted me to get these cool pictures of the two of them.

Oooh, I'm the first commenter. Woohoo! Great pictures, Christine. I can't believe how much Dennis' looks have changed since the surgery. He is sure a handsome kid. As all your children are!
The pics are wonderful. Dennis's face is looking so good. Thank the Lord for such a good Dr. who did a great job!
Could Dennis be having tummy aches from the antibiotics? They can upset the natural floral in the intestines and that is something we always watch out for. Yogurt is a good cure for that... and if it isn't the trouble, well, extra yogurt doesn't hurt you :)
Looks like you guys are busy as usual. More pics to show the cousins!
I had to laugh at you saying that "spring has finally sprung". I haven't seen any pictures of anyone wearing anything heavier than a sweatshirt all "winter". LOL. I can't wait for the temps here to consistently remain above zero! LOL.
Dennis does look so wonderful. How much he has grown since he came home!
Hi Christine!
This is my first time to comment, after being a long time reader! I love your beautiful family. Thank you so much for sharing your adventures with us. I just wanted to let you know that one of our children (a. from Russia with bilateral complete cleft lip and palate) had a very difficult time sleeping after his repair. No infections or pain, but we were told that it sometimes takes a few weeks to get all of the anesthesia out of their systems after surgery. Maybe Dennis is experiencing something similar. He looks incredible... and just wait a few more months! I was heartsick before my son's surgery (not wanting to "lose" his beautiful smile). It is amazing to look back two years later at the amazing things God has done through skilled surgeons. Enjoy the blessings of spring...
Dennis looks wonderful, I love his smile and his new haircut! Send some of that warm, sunny weather our way!:):) Enjoy your Sunday!

Your green grass looks so inviting. It's far from green here in Southern New England but spring bulbs are poking through the dirt.
I am longing for the warm weather to arrive here too. Today it's bright and sunny and 53 degrees in the Rochester, NY area. 76 sounds wonderful! Thanks for sharing so many pictures, they're so fun to look at. Dennis looks like he's growing so fast. I'm forgetting when his second surgery is. It must be coming up pretty soon.
We do a lot of Wendy's dollar menu when we travel. Everyone gets two things so plan ahead and share!
Lovely pictures as ever. Your family is beautiful!

The kids all look like they are enjoying the spring weather. Denis is getting so big!
Our son recently had his adenoids out and although it was outpatient surgery he did not sleep well for a little over two weeks after the surgery. He would sleep fine for the first 3 hours and then would wake up screaming and crying "mommy" and would continue to cry off and on for a couple of hours. we tried everything, sleeping with us, one of us sleeping with him, rocking, warm milk, and thankfully he is back to sleeping well, but only this past week. I think the surgery really had an affect on him which he seems to be over, so hopefully that is the case with Dennis. We will keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers.
75* and swimming! The water must have been FREEZING! Glad you are all enjoying the warm weather!
Aww love all the pictures!
Dennis continues to amaze me! He has changed SO much since he came to live with you all. God is Good!
Wow, $50 for Wendy's! And I whine about what it costs for our family of 6! ha ha
Dennis is looking so good, and of course so are all of the other kiddos.
Dennis looks so grown up now.
I love reading your blog and seeing your beautiful kiddos!
I LOVE the new header!
Hey thanks for your comment on my blog...I will be looking at my library for the cookbook you recommended!
O my goodness Dennis does look so cute.. I love the new top of the blog!
All of your children are so adorable!
One of my children has had multiple major cranial surgeries. After his second one, he had a very difficult time with sleep for quite some time. He did much of what you are describing Dennis doing. Our neurosurgeon and plastic surgeon both said it is very common with cranio and craniofacial surgeries. Something to do with swelling, trauma, and the anesthesia.
Hang in there!

Your children are beautiful. Thank you for sharing these wonderful pictures.
The sun is out here for the first time in a week! I'm loving it!
Where is Aleksey in the new header.. Its cute!
Dennis is looking so fabulous!!! I love that the girls are doing their fundraiser. Such a big help!
You know, Dorian had nightmares about his surgery experience for about 6 months after his last one. Yet another possibility for Dennis needing to be in your bed . . . he probably feels safer there.
He is really getting tall, and is he WALKING down the stairs? Good grief, he`s grown so much since you brought him home. Amazing. And he`s positively adorable, just like all your kids.
Love Caleb`s hair in the photo of him by the pool. lol.
Didn't I see Aleksey in the new header this morning? I suppose you had a good reason for removing his picture, but I certainly enjoyed seeing it along with all the other kids'.
Best always,
JEB
Great pictures! Thanks for taking the time to post them. I'm sure you're crazy busy with paper chasing and such.
I can't believe the kids are swimming -- We're supposed to hit the low 70s here in WI today. WooHoo! But tomorrow we're back in the low 50s. BooHoo! Maybe we'll be swimming by July. :(
Dennis is looking absolutely wonderful! He is more amazing everyday! :)
Love the Spring pics. I found your blog through the adopt cleft group. My son is cleft affected. Amazing pics of Dennis! so glad the surgery went well!
