One last picture!

Here is a picture of my happy boy Dennis! I look at him and see absolute perfection just the way he is. So do my kids. Annalyn said that she loves Dennis just like he is and that he doesn't need the surgery. Andrew wanted me to reassure him that Dennis would not die tomorrow. I reminded both of them that this surgery is to help improve Dennis' life. Of course, God is going to watch over our little boy. The doctor is going to fix his lip so that Dennis could close his mouth so that he could start to make some of the sounds needed to talk. The doctor is going to remove scar tissue. The doctor is going to try and close Dennis' eye. All of this so that Dennis may live a more comfortable and normal life as he grows up.

Tonight I enjoyed giving Dennis his bath. He was extra messy and sticky from the cake I let him eat. Boy, did he enjoy it though! He splashed and played without a care in the world, and out of the blue stood up to offer me a kiss. It was so very sweet.

Tomorrow we have to be at the hospital by 8:30 in the morning. Dennis is scheduled to have surgery at 10:40. It is the last surgery of the day for the surgeon so that he can take his time with Dennis.

Thank you for all of your prayers and well wishes. I know that I am calmer because of them. Dennis is healthier than he was yesterday too--- praise God.

Good night.

I have prayed God's leading for Dennis' medical team, including a good night's rest tonight. I have asked for an absolutely perfect surgery, with an easy recovery for Dennis. I have also asked for calmness for you, John and the rest of the family during the operation. And I will continue to pray about Dennis until I hear the results, when I will then concentrate on his recovery and pain control. And if there is anything else I can think of, I will pray about that, too. I guess that's about covered it!! Your boy is in God's care, and he'll be fine! He's such a special little guy! So cute!

Christine: I just read what you wrote on Melissa's blog (about her son who came home last week and is now pulling away from her, not wanting to snuggle, etc.) and all that you said really touched me. We're awaiting the call to go back and bring our little girl home and I will take all that you said to heart in preparation for similar reactions.

In the meantime, I pray for your beautiful little Dennis as well as your family. You truly are amazing!

Many blessings,
Laura

What a beautiful photo of a beautiful boy! I love his blue eye and his big, happy smile and the way his eyelashes look so cute on his damaged eye. My own eyelashes are almost invisible and that may be why I love cute eyelashes. Even though there are many of us who will love and accept Dennis the way he is, we know that there are those who will not and they can really hurt. You have made the right decision for him. Praying for you all.

Wishing all the best for Dennis's surgery. I hope it leads to more speech--we are all anxiously waiting to hear what Dennis has to say! My bets are that he will say "love you" first! Also, hopefully, the eye surgery will reduce his risks for infection and other complications.

Best wishes to a much-loved (by your family and many blogging friends) and wonderful kiddo.

I know he'll do great. The best part is he'll have a mommy to snuggle him when he wakes up!

Praying for all of you! It so sweet, my children pray for Dennis every morning during devotions. The NEVER forget him. {{{{HUGS}}} We'll be praying for all of his siblings as well. It's hard to stay home and wait.. and it's hard to see your brother in pain. Austin's open heart surgery nearly did his siblings in.. they hurt for him.

Aw, he looks so grown up in this picture. I think he must be in surgery since I`m a bit late here, but I`m praying for him and that the doctors will be able to do everything they need to.

I'm going to miss this little face! Knowing he's going to be the same little guy when he wakes up helps a lot, though. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with Dennis today and for the weeks to come, as he recovers from his surgery. Such a sweet, sweet boy!

Christine,
I just read this so he is most likely in the midst of surgery but we will be praying. Can I just say that I think Dennis looks just like your husband! I think it's amazing how the Lord allows adopted children to take the appearance of their adoptive families. I have seen this in so many cases and one of the families adopted a child of a different race and he still looks like his parents! The Lord is amazing! We'll be checking often today for updates. Prayers are with you!

We've been praying for Dennis, too. Christie posted a prayer request, thankfully, as I have not read your blog in a couple weeks or so.

Blessings to your little one as he recovers, and on your family as you prepare to head to Ukraine in the coming months!

Here with you in spirit! Can't wait until it is behind you! Being in between surgeries I know the angst it creates!

He is so darn cute! I can't imagine how much more irresistable he is going to be after this is done!!!
