For dinner, I needed the rest of a whole leftover ham to be deboned and cut up so that I could make my corn and ham chowder .

So I enlisted the help of my two oldest boys. John cut the meat off the bone, and the boys cut it into bite size pieces. I commented to them that they would get so good at working with meat that they might want to grow up and be butchers. Caleb promised me that that was the last thing he would ever grow up to be, LOL, because the meat grossed him out.

Yup - that is a big bone. My brother's dog in Canada just had a honkin' one last week too and I took a picture of it. Thought about posting it - but it is gross!
hmm had too look at that twice~ was it the bone that was big or the dog that was small!!!
I bet the dog is still workng on that bone

The bone is almost as big as the dog! That's hilarious. I've seen cow bones in the pet food aisle at the grocery store that are as big as my 20 lb dog. What yummy meals you make!
Good helpers, and yes, I can imagine the dogs were in heaven! I would love to give our cats a treat like that occasionally, but indoors.... well, I don't want to have to clean grease from all the carpets, under the couch, etc ;) !
The cake looks amazing.
