My little Puffy-poo on the Mend

This was our little guy last night. Pretty tired as you can see, but still looking pretty good considering what he just went through.

Dennis looks so cute trying to copy Daddy.

When Dennis woke up this morning, his face was very swollen. His normal eye was swollen shut and you could see the bruising more visibly.

Come nap time, he was happy to be told to lay down and take a nap. He went right to sleep.

He slept for a solid two hours and woke up with his eye swollen shut again.

After some tender loving and sitting up instead of laying down, the swelling went down some.
I must say that Dennis is the most tender-hearted, good-natured child we have ever been blessed with. He is one amazing little boy!

After school, William enjoyed sorting through his Pokemon cards.

This morning my Mom came bright and early with doughnuts for all the kids. She spent the day with me. We even cooked dinner together. It was so nice.

John had this cool shirt made. Can you guess what the number 12 stands for?

I'm glad Dennis seems to be recovering well. :)

I like John's shirt, lol. What else do you guys have twelve of!? :P

How is Adam's chicken pox? Being itchy and sick is really not fun. :(

I think it should say "Reed 15", just in case. LOL ;)

It tugs at the heart strings to think what this dear little guy has gone through & still goes through. His new look seems to make him look older more like a little boy and less like a baby. He is such a brave little soldier, isn't he?

Ohh, poor baby with all the swelling :o( . Is his pain medicine working ok? It looks like it is from the pics. and from his ability to sleep. Things sure are looking good though.

How are the pox? Is he going nuts with the itch or is it milder since he had them before? Praying for a quick recovery for both boys!

So excited for Dennis. What a relief it must be to all of you to have that big step over!

One thought re: pokemon-- (delete this comment if you think it's none of my business and I'll take the hint and not intrude again):

When I was a children's pastor, one night at a home group in Tulsa a little six-year-old boy from a troubled family had an encounter with God where he began to weep and see visions and share them with all of us. These were not normal six-year-old things to say; it was the Lord--very holy--and we were all so deeply moved. Then suddenly he reached into his pocket, grabbed his pokemon cards and gave them to his Dad. He said, "The Holy Spirit told me to throw these away, Daddy." His dad just burst into tears.

It convinced any of the rest of us who might have wondered about whether pokemon was ok or not that we probably shouldn't let our kids watch or have these things.

Glad to hear Dennis is doing well. He is SUCH a brave little boy. I think there will be 12 Reed kiddos, won't there, when Alexsey comes home? :)

OH, poor baby. I'm sure he feels like he went 10 rounds in the boxing ring. He's so adorable. I just love seeing pictures of this little guy.

Oh poor baby! Swelling is always worse after the fact. :(
He still looks great.

So did John make you a shirt too?

My guess is you will wear these on the next trip to Ukraine to pick up Alexy? :)

I hope you keep sharing Dennis' story and, number 12, Alekseys-life is sure to get busier and busier in your house as time goes by.
Witnessing their transformations and adjustments is/will be nothing short of AMAZING (not that the other 10 kiddos are not amazing themselves).
I am prayful that other readers will feel the call to adopt a special needs child/children as a result of your open door nature.

As for today, I hope you are all resting comfortably and taking an easy weekend.

Thank You! God Bless You!

Oh, poor little thing.

It looks really good though -- I mean, once the swelling comes down, of course.

It must be really hard to see your baby going through all these procedures. But, I bet he's loving all the TLC.

He really does look great considering what a big surgery this was. What a blessing to see his shining personality still shining through in the midst of this recovery. He is such a sweet boy. You are blessed (and I know you know that:). Thank you for sharing Dennis with us.

♥ Poor little guy. I'm glad he's doing well though.

Hanging out with your mom all day sounds like fun. I miss living close to my family! :)

P.S. I love the shirt! :)

Those first few post-surgery days are always the hardest, so Dennis's endurance says a lot for his sweet nature. I am glad that he has you to cuddle and comfort him, and hope that he will be feeling lots better soon and bounce back quickly.

Same for Adam! Chicken pox is not fun, whether you're a little kid or a big guy. Meanwhile, oatmeal baths or facial packs might help the itchies be more tolerable...hope none of your other children catch it, especially Dennis.

Love the Reed 12 shirt! Looks good for any number of different occasions(plus a special number of children)!

Dear Christine,

I had been so wishing Dennis' eyelashes could be in the right places, and can not believe that is one of the first things that was fixed. His little eye space looks so close to normal now, it is truly a miracle. I just jumped for joy to see those beautiful eyelashes in the right place! Bless his little heart. I hope his healing continues to be smooth. Cheering in Ohio, Sherry

I just wanted to tell you that my daughters and I have been following your blog for quite awhile now and this is the first time I have posted.Your little Dennis has stolen our hearts he is the sweetest little guy we are so glad that he recovering from surgery so well.I have a son that is very close to his age and my daughters are 18 and 12 and he is their rotten little guy just like Dennis is to your older kids you can tell they are both very loved. What are we going to do with them once they are older after being spoiled rotten by their older siblings? :)My little guy is recovering from surgery last wed. too his was no where near as major as Dennis's but I know what it's like to have a cranky sore boy this week.I have been praying that his recovery goes well for all of you.
My 12 year old daughter comes home from school everyday and asks me if I have checked to see how Dennis is doing if I have not yet that day she does.
