But like I said--- I had my big helper boy with me!

On my other blog, I shared about the little things I was doing in order to save for our adoption. Avoiding Starbucks happens to be one of those things. Not that I went there that often, but every penny counts right now!
My lovely friend Tina at small group last night, made me the most delicious cafe latte with instant coffee and warmed milk. It was way better than any Starbucks I have ever had!

So I decided to copy her and make my own version for a fraction of the cost of a Starbucks coffee. I don't have a milk frother, but a mixer works pretty well in a pinch!
Here's to my friend Tina! (Notice all the groceries in the background?)
Dennis is at the age where he wants to help so I am teaching him how to be a big boy! Here he is politely handing me his bowl instead of chucking it off his tray onto the floor.

I am finally responding to those that had asked me about readoption. Every state is different, so I am not sure how things would be done outside of California, but here, the process is literally a piece of cake! Reading this should answer all of your questions. In addition to the documents listed in the link, you need to fill out an Adopt-200, 210, 215, and 230 which can be downloaded here. Do this in triplicate and file at your country courthouse. Pay a $20 filing fee and ask if there is a phone number where you can follow up in a few days. The family law officer should give you a call with a court date. Once you have court, you will need to file the court order where you filed the petition. You will also need to fill out a court report of adoption so that you will get a delayed registration of birth.
I know this is vague..... please feel free to email me if you need help.

I also shop twice a month for food. I always take Hannah with me as we usually end up with at least two carts full of food. When we get home Hamish and kids unload the car (except Hannah), Leticia and I then clean out the pantries and fridge/freezers before putting everything away. I find this quicker and less stressful on me having to do it all on my own (which I did until about 18mths ago)...Johnny is getting so big, is he looking forward to starting school?
I shop twice a month as well for food. We go as a family (I know that would be a tad tough with 12 kids--then maybe not) and love it. We all take turns putting things into the cart. Daddy ususally "drives" the cart while we fill it up. Then we all help the bagging process along and help put it into the van. I LOVE grocery shopping with my family! I don't know why I went into that big discertation! Silly me! I am praying that the re-adoption will go smoothly and she is placed right where the Lord wants her.
I don't think I would need a coffee after all that shopping.I'd need a nap. My goodness..how do you do it? Is it just me or does Dennis' good eye look brighter? He looks so darn happy.
I shop weekly and it still isn't enough..how do you keep milk for a month?
I usually have three or four little ones with me..because i don't have anyone to watch them...
we have a costco..we dont' shop there as often as we probably should..but when our local stores have dollar sales we stock up on everything from side kicks, to soups and pasta sauces
Sale on Cherrios? I love it when we stock up on Cherrios like that here. :)
So what's the recipe on the latte? Do share!
You must have been reading my mind. I was going to post on a China yahoo group about getting a delayed court ordered bc for Bryson. We just got off the phone today with the adoption unit for BC's as they made a mistake on Marissa's BC. The lady in the adoption unit told me we didn't have to readopt in order to get a BC.
HOw much was the readopt? I forget with Marissa and with Guatemala we had to readopt once here.
I do one major shopping trip each month and then go apx once a week to get the weekly stuff, like lunchmeats and milk & eggs. It can be really overwhelming at times. UGH
I wish adopting here in Nj was easy... it is such a huge process of lots of paperwork :(
mommytoalot's comment about milk made me laugh! There are only 2 milk drinkers in our house, but I used to have a hard time keeping it stocked (we find it too hot to drink so much milk here). But how indeed! When it was just Brad and I, in the UK, one of the biggest luxuries we ever had was milk delivery... pints of milk and fresh OJ, every other morning or so, right on the doorstep in time for breakfast. It was magic!
Too fun! Look at your lovely helpful boys!
Cxx
PS Please could you email me your address if it's not too much trouble? I have a card for you.
Hi Christine
I tip my hat to you! I hate shopping. With 3 kids I feel like they eat me out of house and home. My boys eat a lot of cereal also. I call cereal my mini mortgage. Here in Canada we have a Bulk Barn. I buy all my cereal (alot of my groceries also) there. It is so much cheaper. Just thought I would share. They also have great snacks and baking goods. Do you have a Bulk Barn in your area?
Also I thought of your family the other night when I made Nutella Pizza.
Recipe:
Pizza Dough (whole wheat or white)
Nutella
Banana
Crushed Nuts (optional)
Icing Sugar
Spread out pizza with oil (perferable not Olive Oil)
Bake at 350
Cool for 10 minutes
Spread Nutella and arrange sliced bananas on warm Pizza, sprinkle crushed nuts (hazlenuts the best)
Dust crust with icing sugar and Enjoy!
Let me know if you try it. It is healthy and affordable! Your kids will love it!

WOW! Grocery shopping...I've now finally seen picture's of someones house that looks like mine after a store visit. It takes me with the help of kids a few hours to get everything put away. Johnny looks like a great helper!
I just shop weekly too. I can't get organized enough for more than that. Of course, we have a freezer full of beef all the time... but everything else is just once a week. I have an aunt that shops for a month at a time... I can't fathom it! LOL
***Dennis looks fantastic by the way! Love his smile!
