until it caught fire!
John and I worked together to put the flame out, and I thought I would try to salvage the cookie.

I trimmed the burnt cookie of the edges--- mmmm, not too bad.

I made a homemade cream cheese and yogurt sauce, and topped with fresh fruit.

It was delicious!

Dennis is an eating machine nowadays! Because he has figured out how to get into the cereal, he thinks he can just help himself anytime.

That little stinker!
One night we had melon salad. It was very refreshing!

I no longer am responsible for packing lunches. I merely supervise, if that. And the best part is that the kids enjoy doing it!

The fruit pizza looks so delicious.
My oven should look as clean as yours.
Dennis seems to be growing a lot so he's hungry. He sure has filled out a lot since he joined the family last summer.
You make such great meals for your family.
That fruit pizza looks so good. I may have to make one too.
I don't see anything wrong with Dennis helping himself.... I'll just send my son over to your house so he can join Dennis;)
without the fire, the dessert may not have been as memorable, right? it does look very yummy! I press a shortbread dough base as my fruit pizza crust, what kind on cookie base was yours? looks amazing!
i think my kids could eat all day and everything in sight!
very cure pictures!
Looks yummy!
I love the new blog look - very cool!!
Kudos to you for salvaging the crust. I don't even think I would have thought to take it out of the oven before dousing the flames, which inevitabely would have made a huge mess. Looks tasty! God bless the person who invented self cleaning ovens, too. :-)
Don't you love it when they start doing things themselves? My boys have decided it is a lot of fun to let the dogs in and out, and I love it since I'm not always going to the back door now. :)
I can't wait for summer when the fruit is better so I can make fruit pizza!!! My aunt is a professional fruit pizza maker (not really), she makes them look so pretty! But, we have NO problem digging into those suckers until they are GONE!
Oh, and glad you didn't burn more than some cookie edge! ;-)
I love your family! They make me smile. That's all I wanted to say. :o)
If messy food tastes best, then messy, dangerous, fire-starting food has got to be better than awesome!!
I love that my kids are helping themselves to snacks and other food .. especially as it has come with the responsibility of asking first, not sneaking, and knowing/accepting that i mean business when I say 'real food before junk' (ok, Dennis is just toooo clever ;D but at least he won't starve!)
Honor is my kitchen helper. Brian is not that interested in cooking now - and is busier in the evenings - but now that Honor is reading, she wants to help me cook more. "No mom (hiding the paper from view) I will tell you what we do next!"
The pizza looks so good, we used to make one for every birthday when i still worked at the health club, yum!
Dennis is doing so well, he looks so happy too. How is he healing?
Christine! Please share the cookie recipe and the cream cheese base. I have never heard of a fruit pizza before but you just made my mouth absolutely water!!
That looks delish! Yummo!!
Love that the kids pack their own lunches! Great idea!
The pizza looked great, good job!
♥ yay no more doing lunches. I hate making cold lunches I can't even imagine making what 11? :)
Priscilla and Audra managed to do the same thing, pizza stone included, but the fire didn't occur until the following day.
Can I come eat at your house?
That fruit pizza looks delicious! I want some!
I love the new header.
Mmmmmm, that fruit pizza looks delicious! If I lived closer I'd be tempted to invite myself over! LOL
