Cards are a big thing in our house right now. Uno, Go Fish, and Racko are the names of the games. Sveta can't quite grasp the concept of Uno, and Racko, but she is a pro at Go Fish! It was so sweet to watch her and Jonny playing the other night. They enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed watching them.

The girls have finally made some friends in the neighborhood. They are really nice and have started coming over more often. They attend our church too, where they have gotten to know each other better. One day, they thought it would be fun to throw as many balls as possible into the basketball net. I think the final count was seven.

Oh my! Look at Jonny's long fingers!
It finally came! Anna's first shipment of Growth Hormone was delivered today!
This is a three month supply, complete with syringes, and a disposal box.
Tomorrow, I take her up to Valley Children's Hospital, where I will learn and give her first shot!
I'll let you know how that goes.
Tonight I introduced avocado to Dennis. He loved it! In fact, he loved it so much that he didn't want to share it with Daddy! Here he is trying to keep Daddy from taking a bite.

"Look at me! I am a big boy! I can feed myself now!"

Talking about food, look what I had for lunch the other day.
I fried nitrate free pepperoni and topped it with pepper jack cheese, tomato, and onion. It tasted like pizza!
Today for lunch I fried up a lean hamburger patty and topped it with cheese, tomato, lettuce, and onion. I drizzled with mustard and mayonnaise. A hamburger without the bun that you eat with a fork! Yummy!

And don't forget to drink water and exercise. And by exercise I don't mean running a mile or joining a gym--- just look at my routine. I make a conscious effort to bring my heart rate up at least four times a day for around five minutes. I do this by running up and down the stairs followed by a few jumping jacks, sit-ups, and push-ups. Sometimes I do a few kicks in the air which Dennis thinks is just too funny. You should see him imitate me! Oh, and now I jog to the mailbox instead of having the kids get the mail. Not alot of exercise, but enough to make a difference. If I can do it--- so can you! Did I mention that I have lost another two pounds making the grand total so far six pounds? And John has already lost that much too!
Rachel had her friend Vika spend the night a few days ago. I am really fond of Vika because I helped her to find a new family almost two years ago! It is such a blessing to be able to stay in touch with the kids that I help to find new families because of a disruption. She is doing so well, and her and Rachel and Julia too, always have a great time together. Rachel got her nails painted extra fancy by Vika!
Here is my MR. BLUE EYE! I absolutely love this photo of him. Doesn't he look angelic?

Please keep him in prayer. His surgery is scheduled for next Friday, March 6th. It may be moved up to Wednesday, March 4th. Regardless of the date, it is right around the corner, and this surgery is a biggie! My prayer is that his skin and muscle will be extra stretchable allowing the doctor to cut, and tug, and readjust, and hopefully close up the bottom part of his eye. The doctor is going to address the scar tissue on both sides of his face and attempt to fix his lip. Completely amazing! Lord, please look after little Dennis!

Tonight while I was cuddling with some of the kids, Rachel wanted to take pictures. I think they turned out great!

I'll be praying for little Dennis while he's in surgery.
Did I ever tell you I cried through all your posts about bringing Dennis home? Thank God for people like you and your husband who are willing to open your hearts to these children.
Blessings to you!
I love the look of the meals you cooked- very inspiring if I ever decide to go back to Atkins.
Will be praying for Dennis next week too. I hope the surgeons do they best they can for him.
Surprise! Play Uno again with Sveta. You will be amazed. She and Jonny had me playing marathon sessions of the game this past weekend. Ya just can't turn around without them surprising you with their new and improved skills
Whenever Brad and I would start out the office door together to head home, we'd often share a smile and one of us would say "It's baby huggin' time!" Long after the babies were babies. We like our snuggles! Great pics of you and the kids :-)
I have very fond memories of playing cards with my grandparents too! That was one of my favorite things to do with them. Although my parents would sometimes play with me as well, or I had friends play with me, playing with my grandparents was our special thing!
I will be thinking of and praying for Dennis next week, hoping all goes well and as planned.
Great pictures! Good luck today with Julia. You lunch looks awesome!
Nice pictures!
Cards and board games are big here, too. I bet Sveta would enjoy "War"....seems to be a favorite with my "littles".
We love cards here as well..unfortunately we don't play often enough.
Dennis is in my prayers.
congrats on the weight loss.
I've thought Dennis looks angelic in every picture you post of him. We have the World Day of Prayer here on March 6 and that will be an extra reminder to me of Dennis' need for extra prayer on that day and once again for the children all over the world who are in need. Children seem to always top my prayer list.
Loved the pictures! Tell Julia she has a good eye!! Such sweet kids...!!
Your story of the kids playing cards reminded me of when we hosted a Russian chaperone this Christmas (she was chaperoning some Russian orphans that were being hosted and she was staying with us) and the boys were trying to teach her how to play Uno in English! Their Russian was horrible and Nina's English was just as bad and it was hilarious listening to them!! Somehow they made it through, though I think quite a few rules were broken! LOL!
Games are great! Sequence, Battleship, and Mexican Train are a few of our favorites.
I love the snuggle pictures! Also, even though I haven't been much of a blogger lately, I have not forgotten little Dennis. I am praying for his upcoming surgery.
I have the spelling bee on my mind and will look forward tonight to an update on the blog.
Sweet picture of the snuggling.
That's great that the girls are meeting neighborhood girls. I would think that the kids would get to know one another at the bus stop.
Next week's surgery is indeed a biggie and Dennis will be on my mind/in my thoughts.
Your meals look so tempting.

I love these little catch up post that you do!
Your lunches look AMAZING! That is my weakness. I usually eat what ever I am feeding the kids for lunch!
Glad to hear the girls are making friends and having such a good time with them!
We will have your little son in our prayers next week!. Best wishes from Plasencia, Spain!
Marcial, Libia, Alexei & Karlos
Love the pictures Rachel took! I'll be praying for Dennis as he goes into surgery next week.
What a nice refreshing post. :)
Are you gluten free right now?
I have been gluten free for over 2 years.
Wow, that was a huge post. I will begin praying for Dennis today and keep praying until I hear something. I know it's going to be wonderful.
So cute to see Dennis pushing Daddy away from his avacado. Our son loves avacadoes as well. He'll eat all the guacamole when we go for Mexican food, if we let him! We will keep Dennis and your family in our prayers, especially with his big operation coming.
Your picture of your lunch is making me hungry! Very yummy looking!
I loved those coolers and ice packs that came with my sons Growth hormon. We would use them alot on trips
You are such an amazing person...PERIOD! :)
You are such an awesome mommy! My Avery still thinks your house would be way better than ours, you think if I send him your way you would notice an extra blonde little boy???
Wow, what a busy, happy time everyone's been having at your house! It's good to see how well your family works and plays together.
I will pray for Dennis, and will add him to my church's prayer list on Sunday. I feel very spiritually assured and optimistic about his surgery, btw, and hope he has an easy time of it.
When my cousin (now Papa to two daughters from Ukraine) was about Dennis's age, he had heart surgery. The nurses rigged up his Teddy bear with bandages and tubes just like his and had Teddy right there in the recovery room as soon as my cousin regained consciousness. Might something similar help Dennis during the tough days right after his surgery?
It's hard when children are too small to understand what's going on and why...but I really feel that all will go very well next week, with a very good outcome, and am anticipating learning about some very happy results for Dennis. All of your family, especially Dennis, will be in my prayers.
Best wishes,
Susan in Ky
I love that picture of you and Dennis nose to nose, so cute! I`ll be praying for his surgery, too, it sounds like a big one. The good thing is that at this age, kids tend to recover quickly, we were always amazed by Dorian`s recoveries.
The card games sound like fun, I think we might have to take that up around here. We`ve been playing a lot of Memory lately, which has been a huge hit.
LOVE the pic of you and Dennis cuddling!
PS I'm sending a new friend to your blog. They are adopting a 12 and 16 year old from Ukraine! Can't wait for you guys to connect.
Brandi
Dying to find out about the spelling bee but I have to make my lunch for tomorrow and get up to bed. I'm 3 hours ahead of you in CA.
I stumbled across your blog today and was enthralled.
You are AMAZING.
I was intrigued by little Dennis and his ongoing medical battles. My heart just about broke in two when I saw those precious eyelashes on his right eye in the pictures you took of him pre-surgery. He is such a little miracle.
Praying for all of you over the coming trials.
xx
Claire
♥ I love card games! Looks like a fun couple of days! :)
Love the pictures! Praying for Dennis' surgery and for you learning to give those shots. :)
So glad the girls have made some friends in the neighborhood and that the sweet girl is doing well in her new home...love it. :)
Hey, I had to check to see if you had posted about Dennis surgery and yippy you did. Are you still okay with me sending a little pkg. I need to know where I should mail it to. Anywhere is find with me.
Congrats on the 6 pounds that's awesome. Did you darken your hair? It looks great. Love the posts as always.
WOW! I knew his surgery was coming up, but didn't realize how soon! I will certainly keep Dennis in my prayers.
Love the last series of pics with you cuddling the kids. Just lovely.
I will be praying for Dennis' surgery and for you in the waiting room!!
Dennis will be in my thoughts and prayers.
The photos are wonderful. And the food looks delicious!
Christine,
You sure look good with no makeup.
It must be nice to be able to wake up and go! LOL!
I was also wanting to order 2 scarves from Julia.
Both baby pink and cotton.
Is this the right place to order?
