Boys Horsing Around

William, Andrew, and Jonny seem like they are always horsing around, running around, chasing each other down, wrestling each other to the ground--- it can be quite chaotic! Sometimes Often times it drives me crazy insane!

I hate when I have to be the referee because it usually never ends on a happy note. One boy usually end up hurt..... angry that their brother got the best of them. Ugh--- what happened to the good ol' days when boys just played marbles? ;)

Jonny makes this deep growl-like purr that can be very loud. He taught Dennis to copy him. Now I go insane twice as fast!

Andrew and Jonny will wrestle all day if I let them, but I often direct them to go and play something else unless they both just want to go to their room and takes naps instead.

Then they get goofy on me!

Or go and get William!

Well I can take those pictures and paste my boys on them. That is all they do as well.

Boys will be boys!!!!

I guess having my children's ages so spread out has it's benefits. Each boy is 8 years older than then next boy ;o) Aha....(sinister laugh) a method to my madness.....
Oh man...you mean I'm mad anyway?!

I have heard stories from my uncle's childhood. He would be 86 if he were still alive today. Believe me, there was plenty of roughhousing going on then too! Probably over who won the best marble!

I'm thinking that marbles really might NOT be the best thing for those boys.
I'm imagining chipped teeth, cracked windows, cracked glasses and people slipping and falling on marbles left around.
:-P

Boys are the same the world over. I dont think they ever JUST played marbles. I would say it was probably punctuated with just as much rough-housing as any game now is.

This was great to hear. My son and daughter are 14 months apart. They are so close. They take each other down all the time. I also try to redirect when I know is going to far, because if I don't my poor son is usually the one that gets hurt! My daughter is the rough one!

Just wait until they get to be 14 or 15! As of Friday I will have 14, 15, and 16 year old boys. The house will sometimes shake with the noise. Overall it seems "in fun", but I do think there is a bit of pack mentality there....figuring out who is the "top dog". I can't help but wish they'd do this via "who shovels the most snow?" or something like that!

Tell them to go outside to roughhouse in the yard on the grass.

It's 0 out this morning at 6:15 AM in Southern New England. Boy, that sure woke me up as I staggered down the stairs from my warm fleece sheets while carrying the puppy. When I opened the door to hook her out, the blast of frigid air hit me. She was out all of about 2 minutes. I love winter and cold weather but this is too cold. Sunday it'll be 50 so this won't last long.

If you have any hardwood floors, it's a great way to polish them up!!!!!

My 17 year old son still wrestles with my 9 year old son ALL the time, so the age difference method doesn't work here!

Ah the days of boys. LOL
I have this great picture of our boys putting their glasses all in a row on the bbq so they could wrestle themselves to oblivion.
(all these little pairs of glasses all in a row) It is one of my secret favorites. :)

Brian came home yesterday saying that they played the grab and choke game at recess. What? Well, not really choke, just chase people, grab them, and hold them prisoner... I haven't got any calls from the principle, so I guess the field monitors didn't notice any actual pain or screaming. Boys!

I tried hard when my boys were younger to implement a "no wrestling" rule. We have done fine for years, but now that they are 13 and 12 it is like they can't help themselves. It always starts out as fun teasing and then ends with wrestling.

I have an extra question for you Christine. Do you celebrate each child's Adoption Day? We have an adopted child and I have mixed feelings about this. I just wondered what you do in your family. Thanks!

The boys remind me of my boys.. always wrestling! I'll tell ya that Andrew of your is gorgeous! What a face.. Model material! I was wondering if you were keeping Aleksey's name or changing it. I see there are 2 different spellings. Which one is the correct one. Having 2 boys from Russia and one name Aleksandr I am gonna guess it's with a K.. I love that name...
My boys are 5 & 7 and I will be cleaning out there closets. I was wondering if you would like some of there boys clothing to get ready for Aleksey.. They will be good for Dennis and maybe Jonny too.. Please let me know because they are in great condition... If you are interested please email me at mockba0204@optonline.net

Have a great day...Any new recipes for this week. I take your idea's all the time.. LOL

I am so happy that you are adopting Aleksey.. I would say he is a lucky boy but I feel that parents are the lucky ones as I am with my boys from Moscow.. Since things are going so well so far with the adoption is there a timeline when he might be home. Can he come home sooner because of his condition? I wish you all the luck and I will be donating to Alekseys fund just as soon as my tax check comes.. lol
Do you have any of the pics you took while you were in Uk? I bet we would all love to see more. Hope to hear from you soon..
Sending love from NY..

I have four older brothers who
always wrestled- we had dents in the walls! My own 2 sons never
wrestle- the younger one does with friends sometimes- but
the older one just is not the wrestling type-
Your boys look like they are
having alot of fun- they will
probably always be close- like
my brothers still are today- from
all the brotherly bonding!

♥ That's usually how it goes in our house too. Wrestling and funning around until someone gets hurt... And I only have one boy (although Eliza is very tomboyish in that respect) I can't even imagine dealing with more than that...

My eight and five-yr olds are always wrestling, they get so crazy. :-)

Horsing around is just something that boys do. You just have to learn to live with it. Also, your boys seem to have more control over their playing than others that I know. Sometimes they take it too far.
