Words of Wisdom

Delayed Obedience is not obedience.

A good and very wise friend of mine whose children are all grown up reminded me of this the other day. It is so nice to be given advice without being made to feel beaten up. This is an art, I wish to learn. Lord, please teach me this...... it is your way... oh Lord teach me your ways.

"Exodus 33:13If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.""

I've told my children that this is the year they learn to obey the first time every time. You can imagine how that went over : )

I agree. I try everyday to live by those words.

I once heard Elisabeth Elliot on the radio talking about how much of our stuggling was delayed obedience. That really struck me at the time. I try to remember that just as my children resist me and my will, I am often resistant and unwilling toward God. This only adds to misery!

Hi there. You stopped by my blog a few months ago when my Father in law passed away. Sadly, I am just now getting back into blogworld.

Thank you for your well wishes and I must say, you are a very inspiring person. I am coming back here to read some more. Awesome.

This is a struggle for my family daily. Thanks for the encouragement. It takes a lot of persistance to work on this one.

One of the tidbits that we use in our home when I ask the kids to do something...

Right Away
All the Way
And With a Happy Heart

That is how we expect them to respond.
