Who Knows Who

I thought it might be fun to play a little game. Everyone who wants to play can, just by leaving a comment and or linking to this post or to another blogger's post who is also playing the game. That way, we can all see who knows who. I think it would be interesting to know which bloggers know each other because they have met in in person and how it is that they know each other.

I will start first.

Beth is a dear friend that I have known for 12 years. She used to be my next door neighbor before she grew up and went off and got married. I guess I get the credit of bringing her and her husband together. Pretty amazing story-- totally a fairy tale one at that and they are happily married with six beautiful children. We had drifted apart through the years, but recently through blogging, we have got reacquainted which I am thrilled about.

Laurel is a good friend of mine that I have known for three years. She and her husband have adopted five children themselves and she helped me to bring home Dennis. She is very encouraging and has a wonderful sense of humor---- I think she is the best.

Kristen is a friend I met at MUGS which is a mothers group that meets at my old church. She is distantly related to one of my daughter's previous family. She is also an adoptive mom who is in the process of adopting another child through foster care. She is so comfortable to be around and I wish she would bring her kids out some time and visit me--- hint, hint.

Linda is a friend of Kristen that I met through blogging. She is a very loving and encouraging mother of three. Not only did she drop off a sweet card during Dennis' first surgery, but she and her son came and visited Dennis and I when he was in the hospital for his cleft palate surgery. What a blessing it is to meet a blogging friend in person.

So, who do you know?

I have known Kristen for 13 years now. We met officially at the Los Angeles International Airport just before boarding a plane to wing our way toward two years teaching in Brazil. After Brazil, we spent another two years teaching together near San Francisco. I found your blog through a link for The Ukraine Train on Kristen's blog. I agree she is easy and comfortable to be around. Since we live a couple hours apart, we mostly just chat on the phone now. I should probably get off my duff and drive up there. : )

I know Christine from MUGS. We connected through our adoption experience and I admire her greatly. I've gotten to meet Baby Dennis (as my little girl calls him) personally when Christine came to MUGS once this fall. He is such a doll. I was helping out in childcare that day and watched him play, but when his Mama came through the door to pick him up, his face lit up like a Christmas tree. It made me all teary eyed.

I don`t know any bloggers face to face, but that will all change in a couple of weeks when Marina of Mucha Costa Rica (http://muchacostarica.com) is coming to Guatemala and we will meet up with our sons! Also, I`ll be meeting http://familyonbikes.org/blog/ when they make it to Guatemala, which should be in a few months.

I know "wife to the rockstar". My husband and I were her youth leaders for a few years back when she was in high school. We have been friends for many years. She is the one who got me into blogging.

And of course I know my local blogging friends and family. But I have really enjoyed making new friends who live all over the country.

Great idea for a post!

I met "Moscow Mom" in Moscow, before she was blogging. We met randomly at the Hard Rock Cafe, when I was there, killing time, waiting for paperwork to finish up, with Katya on trip #3 of our adoption. I noticed her speaking English to her daughters and we introduced ourselves and have been friends ever since. The second time we got together during that trip, I confessed about the blog. (I wanted to post some pics of our daughters playing together and wanted to make sure it was okay with her.) Anyway, soon after that, I managed to convince her to start her own blog (American Girls in Moscow) and it's been a great way to keep in touch.

I met "Kate" in St. Petersburg when I was there to adopt Katya as well. We had been reading each other's blogs, and made plans to meet for dinner during my trip.

"Texas Holly" of June Cleaver Nirvana was a childhood friend of my husband. We'd been reading each other's blogs for awhile before I put two and two together (after I saw her family Christmas picture on my inlaws fridge last year!)

Also, I recently discovered that my daughter's best friend (in 6th grade)'s mom has been blogging for a couple of years and now we read each others.

Sorry for hi-jacking your comments, I think I should have posted! Great idea.

I have known Laurel for quite a while...way before she was the mommy to 5! She knew me when I was still in school. :)

I got to meet Christine in person a few months back and we all had a great time sharing a meal and hanging out with all 16 of our kiddos. WOW!! Too fun!! Can't wait until the next time.

I met Annmarie of "Come Undone" through blogging and then in person at my son's birthday party and a couple of times at the zoo. I met Lauren of "Life with Cupcake" after I got the call. She called me one night (about 4 days before I was scheduled to leave for Russia) to ask about my plans for the following day. I told her I had a million errands. She asked if I wanted company and we have been friends ever since. I just recently met Susan "Slinky" at a birthday party. I met Kathy "Craunaer Story" when she came out for a playdate. I have met a few others who used to blog, but don't much anymore. It is fun to get together with everyone. Anyone coming out to the East Coast (NY area) look me up!!

I've not met any bloggers personally but Laurel and I became acquainted back in 2005 when we were both waiting for travel dates to Ukraine.

I don't know any bloggers personally. Although it would be fun too.

I don't know anyone personally. I think I live too far from everyone and I haven't traveled to Ukraine or any EE counries, so that also has limited me. I'd love to meet everyone, but even if I don't, I still consider all of you my friends :o)

Christy, you do too know a blogger personally!! :) :)
Christy and I met when she sold me her international cell phone, when I was in-process for Ukraine and she had recently come home. We've also met up since then at a clothing drive for Ukraine in St Louis.
Beth Tu and I met up while we were both in-process from Ukraine. We were driving out to Denver and scheduled a lunch date with her and her husband.
Monica and I met up when our facilitator for Ukraine had them call us as references. Her daughter is now our babysitter. :)
Several of my friends from our time in Michigan blog, as well as some from St Louis and Texas.

short version:
Anybody else want to admit being a FRUA frequenter??? That's how I knew of"Thereed12".

L-O-N-G v-e-r-s-i-o-n:
I virtually introduced myself to ChristieM online when I felt sure we would be moving from Atlanta to Dallas. Now we live down the road from each other.

From her blog I connected with Michelle and Beth (both of FRUA) on Facebook, though we don't communicate often or really know each other yet. And lastly...and "2ndly" most importantly ;=)) I also found Christine off of Christie's blog.

I try to remain JJ or Parzhosta because I was an SLP before we moved to TX and started homeschooling recently. I have personally worked with or know several adopted children from EE whose parents are on FRUA, so I prefer anonymity...but it is not a HUGE deal if you are one of them, LOL!

...And...(just read through the list)...I met MomtoMany once by phone when she contacted me just before we moved to TX. We have met in person once.

Several names are familiar here...so I know we at the least know of each other.

Nope, none, nada... although I would love to meet some of my bloggy friends one day and let them know how much I appreciate their "virtual" support.

I don't have my own blog but I first met Rachel's mother (Because I Said So)last March and we've become good friends.

Even thought I've never met Rachel and her MI sisters that blog, I faithfully read and comment on their blogs and feel like I know them.

My daughter is Moscowmom from American Girls in Moscow blog.

I know Rachel and Martha because they are my sisters.

I know Allen because he is my son.

Oh, how fun! Christy, I didn't realize that this Christy was you! I know many bloggers personally, but none of them (but Christine and Jodi) comment on this blog. Most of my contacts I know through FRUA or the Ukraine adoption Yahoo Group or from our nightmare with Orson Mozes. THough, I do feel that I know so many of you through the e-mail circles. What did we ever do without the internet???
Thanks for bringing us all together Christine!

This took me awhile to think through clearly! It is strange because I FEEL like I know the people whose blogs I read, and vice versa....at least many of them.

I know Karen http://combescrew.blogspot.com/
as she was the aide in Zhen's kindergarten classroom - and then went on to adopt a little girl whose photo I brought home from Russia (coincidentally, a classmate of Sveta and Anna!)

I have talked to Christine and Tina (oft responder/non-blogger) on the phone.

What is amazing is that I really did have to stop and think carefully about this! It seems... SURELY, I've met her! But - no. Very strange, indeed.

Sorry Courtney, I meant the bloggers listed in the post.

Hi! Well I know your blog from finding the Kayser's blog when I was researching the adoption agency that they are using. We are praying about adopting internationally, possibly from Ukraine, and I have found so many wonderful blogs from such wonderful, godly families. It has been a blessing to get to know Jen through her blog and then reading about your family on yours. What a blessing your family is!!! I think it's amazing how the Lord brings His children together, even through blogs and adoption, and there is a special bond even if we've never met. God bless you and your family and I love reading your blog!
