On the Mend--- but Slowly

Dennis is one remarkable little boy. He continues to heal quickly, but has been running a low grade fever---- which is to be expected. His appetite is not as ferocious as it was the day of the surgery, but I guess I wouldn't feel like eating if my mouth was full of stitches either. Still he goes around the house as his normal self, but eventually tires out.

Here is Dennis winding down after a long day. The other kids had been gone up until this evening when John went and picked them up from a friend's house and Grandma and Grandpa brought the other kids home. One nice thing about this surgery, is that Dennis totally allows me to comfort him and just sit with him without him even thinking of getting down from my lap. It is such a nice feeling--- for the both of us.

Dennis will continue to have blood tinged drool for the next week or so----- so he wears a bib all the time.

Dennis is so cute. I wish he would let me cuddle with him the way you do.

You look so exhausted. I love the bottom pic though.
I hope you both can get some rest and recover soon!
Have a great Christmas! Your family is an inspiration.

Dennis was surprisingly accepting of his food restrictions. I would have at least whined a little. I couldn't email Andrew's videos from his Thursday recital so I put them on U tube. His piano is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0G6o_TUM_g4 and a snippet of singing at

He agreed to the first one but he hadn't seen the second, so let me know if he wants me to remove it.

He is remarkable. I can't imagine having that type of surgery myself.

He's such a litte trooper and seems to just roll with the punches. Glad to hear that he is on the mend and such a cuddler. Clearly there were no bonding/attachments problems which you are so thankful for.

We were snowed in on Fri. (about a foot of snow) and it's snowing hard again this morning. I'm in for the day doing baking and cooking. I love days like this during the winter.

In the bottom picture, I am not sure who looks more comforted, Dennis or you:) I remember you talking about waiting until Dennis had bonded with you to begin his surgeries and how smart a mommy you were. It would have been so different had that not been given time. I'm so glad he is doing so well and feeling good.

Carson is the same way with me. He will hold his hands up and say "mommy, hold you" I can never get enough of cuddling with him and making him feel safe.

Dennis is looking very well for a little guy who just had surgery. I will continue to send prayers your way.
