A Family Christmas Walk

Last Saturday night, we took the crew out for a fast food dinner and then walking through a neighborhood of homes known for it's Christmas holiday house decorations. It was a very fun evening!

We all decided on Wendy's! As I was waiting in line and John was taking the kids' orders, he ran over to me to tell me that Andrew wasn't sitting with the rest of the kids. My heart sank, immediately thinking that we left him back home, but John knew that wasn't the case because he did a head count. He headed straight for the van and found Andrew sleeping in the back seat. Whew!

Don't you love Dennis' "Say cheese" face?
After we ate, we drove over the neighborhood and parked so that we could walk it instead of drive it.

It was a very chilly night with talk of a "ten year snow" coming.

I love this picture of the kids with Dennis in the middle.

We brought a few cans of canned goods to donate to a local shelter.

Every year a particular home owner brings in real snow.
Each of the kids made a snowball.

Caleb's friend Nate joined us too.

This was my favorite house!

Getting warm by a fire that one of the homeowners had in their driveway for all of the walkers.

Rachel and Anna loved this wall of lights.

The line to sit on Santa's lap was very long, so the kids settled for Grinch instead.

However, Dennis wasn't too happy to sit on his lap either.

I took Dennis to the doctor. He is a whopping 25+ pounds, shoes off. He screamed as she looked in his ears and listened to his chest, but all is good. It looks like his eye is a little infected so they put him on antibiotics, but his Thursday surgery is still a go! As far as I know, my Mom is also recovering nicely from her surgery, and my plan is to go visit her once John comes home. Thanks for all of your prayers. You guys are amazing!

Dennis looks SO grown-up in his jacket, jeans and hat! He definitely doesn't look like a baby anymore. Glad to hear that he and your mom are doing well.

What a neat weekend! We have something similar here and it's always a good time.

25 lbs!!! Nothing like good loving and good eating to get our little ones up to speed in the weight department. I love butterballs!!! =)

Hugs,
Amy

I love all the pictures. What fun!

I know Dennis' surgery for his cleft palate is soon, but what's next for his eye?

Well that Grinch is a little freaky looking ... he'd scare me too! LOL

It hailed/slushed here today ... almost like snow. Kids thought it was cool.

Praying for Dennis and your Mom!

I just have to ask...do you think you could really forget one of your kids at home? I don't think you could but maybe if he had been sleeping or playing quietly somewhere. :-)

The power of prayer is amazing. Thank heavens that Dennis and your mom are doing well.

Dennis' "say cheese" face is adorable. I love how all of your kids are so protective over him.

Wonderful news about your mother and Dennis!!!!

The lights on the houses are beautiful. I can't imagine all the hours it took to hang them all and what the electric bills must be.

Fun holiday evening for the family.

Wow, some of those houses are amazing. For me the first thing that puts me off isnt the power bill or the cost of buying and replacing lights (although we cant afford those either) it's storing for the rest of the year all the bits and bobs you need, imagine storing that massive bow!

You know, even though I`ve never met any of you, I have the feeling that I could pop into your house and feel instantly at home with your family!

These photos are so great . . . I love how the homeowners prepared for people with fire and snow. Very cool!

Great to hear that Dennis is doing well, despite the infection. 25 lbs is great, he`s really growing. Both my boys weigh in at 30 and Dorian is 3 already, so that`s great that Dennis is putting on that kind of weight.

Hope all goes well on Thurs!

Looks like fun! We want to go on a walk looking at lights, but it is around -30 here with the wind chill. Brrrr.

I'm glad Dennis is well. Keep us posted on your mom.

Oh how neat! It's way too snowy where we're at to walk and look at lights. I'm glad Dennis is okay and I will be praying for his upcoming surgery.

Looks like a fun. I swear my house would be like home alone at least 3 days a week if we had 11 kids so 1 sleeping in the van every once in a while is no biggy.

I have to admit, I have a fear of leaving one of my kids behind too. I usually count them several times in the car, and I still feel like someone is missing! Thankfully it hasn't happened yet.

So glad to hear Dennis' surgery is still a go. We'll be praying.
Those houses were COOL! The one with the trees wrapped reminded me of Odessa. They had a park full of trees all decorated like that in different colors. I need to go back and find a picture of it.

I"m just catching up again! I will surely be praying for Dennis and for all of you as he goes through this surgery.

What a great family outing you had!

So glad that Dennis is feeling better! His poor little eye.. I can only imagine how it feels!

FYI - I've tagged you for a photo challenge on my blog..
You need to post the 4th picture in your 4th file on your computer - and share what it is... as well as tag someone else! :) hehe!

Just passing along the fun!

Take care!

That sounds like so much fun! ... We went on a Christmas walk like that once, years ago... But it was just too cold out for the kids. *sigh*
