No Milk for Breakfast

Last night Caleb had me pull out one of his teeth. It was while we were watching Extreme Makeover, and the noise of the tooth being pulled from the gum was loud enough to make everyone stop and focus on Caleb and I---- but I got it!

Even though Caleb will often wake up on the floor like this, the tooth fairy still remembered to fetch his tooth from under his pillow. The tooth fairy probably appreciated how easy he made her job.

This morning was one of those "I'm an awful mom" mornings because there was hardly any milk and only a few frozen waffles. I knew that I should have gone for milk last night, but I was sure that I had enough waffles to cover breakfast. Wrong! So one finished up the milk in a bowl of cereal, a few kids had waffles, some had toast with jam and a banana, and one had oatmeal. Guess where I am off to after I finish this post?

I had to get this picture------- Miss Rachel likes more than just brown bananas----- she loves brown, burnt waffles too!

William loves legos. He has trouble pulling them apart at times because of his sensory issues in his fingers, but he has an awesome imagination and will build these awesome sets with all of the lego men he can find. He is sitting at the new table and chairs set we got from friends who could no longer use the set. Well okay, technically, the set isn't new, but it is to us--- and we love it!

Yesterday, I took four of the girls shopping. Miss Anna stayed home with Daddy and her brothers to work on math facts that she seems to have forgotten since summer. I left with her a little grumpy, but when we came home, she was very sweet...... it seems like Daddy worked with her on more than just math facts.
Mervyn's is going out of business---- you would think that they would have a better sale than just 30% off. We found nothing that I was willing to buy at that price, but I did get a sense for what each of the girls would like.
We shopped at Kohl's, where I found a few new pairs of pants----- it seems like I have went back up to a size 10. When I had got down to a size 6 two years ago, I threw out most of my size 10 clothes, vowing to never go there again------yet ha, here I am! But hey, I seem to remember that there was a movie called 10, meaning that the size 10 is perfect, right?
Miss Rachel has turned in her birthday wish list------ 5 pairs of shoes!

Since my girls really enjoy dressing up--- and dreamed of having glasses, I managed to get our old optometrist to give me some of his old samples. Rachel put them on Dennis----
Doesn't he look like a wise young man?
Sveta loves these dogs, I tell ya. Loves them.

Probably as much as Dennis...........
loves his purse.
P.S. Treat yourself, and take a minute to listen to the whole song playing in the background. Yes indeed, our God is mighty to save......... and I have seen him move mountains........ in me.

♥ We've had a Linen 'N Things going out of business around here for over a month and they still only have 20 to 40% off... I don't get it either! THey try to string it out as long as they can. I figure I won't even go in until it's at least50 to 70% off! ;)

I am always leary when I go to an out of business sale. The prices are never as low as I hoped they would be. I also find great deals at Kohls when it comes to jeans.

I love Dennis with the purse, really cute!

I went into Mervyn's a few weeks ago to check out their sale, too. I thought a lot the stuff they had there did not even look like their regular stuff. It was wierd and expensive. Dennis looks great. When will the bandage come off?

Tereasa said...

Oh dear, I have mornings like that more than I'd like to admit.

By the way, when Mervyn's went out of business in our area, the sale got better as time went on. I think everything eventually made it down to 80% off. You have to wait for the selection to get pretty skimpy, though. Towards the end, they also sell all their fixtures and office furniture. That was great!

I used to shop at a Mervyn's in Okemos, Michigan! It went out of business in 2006. Man, I miss that store. It seemed as if I could always find something. I also shop at Kohl's. BUT, I find a lot of my clothes at Sam's!

I like burnt potato chips and pop corn. We would get along really well, Rachel and I

We used to LOVE Mervyns. Too bad they are going out of business.

We can't afford Mervins, even on clearance prices. *lol* ... Wal*Mart for us!

Man... How I would love to be a size 10 again... *sigh*

How do Adam and Caleb sleep on those tiny beds?

Tell rachel that I love my waffles and toast burnt. I have to watch the toaster very carefully because I like them black. I then put just a touch of butter. If I am spoiling myself-and it us the right time of year-I make fresh maple butter and use a smear of that. For some odd reason toast burnt black and a cup of tea is comfort food for me. Yum!

I know that with 5 kids we go through atleast 5 gallons of milk a week... I can't imagine how much you go through! I have done the same thing and thought I would have enough and didn't. It is good to see your kids "go with the flow" and make it work :)

I love to see pics of William.. he reminds me a lot of my son Lane. ( who also loves legos) My husband built lego tables for them last year for Christmas and they love them... keeps the legos off the floor!!

It is good to see Dennis doing so well.

I thought Mervyn's has been going out of business for a long time now? Maybe I am thinking of another chain. Guess I ought to check on-line... Honor has managed to grow out of nearly all her winter stuff.

How funny!
In Washington, Mervyns went under awhile ago and was bought out by Kohls (or something like that!) I used to LOVE Mervyns!
Oh well!
I've run out of stuff too... it teaches your kiddos how to be a little more resilent - and know that they can have something other than milk!

Hehe!

Hugs!

Yeah, I was looking for great deals at Mervyn's and Linens 'n Things ... haven't found anything yet. I need to feel like I got a really good deal or I just can't spend the money.

I never heard of Mervin's.

We don't have Mervyn's here in the east, but I do recall going there when I lived in Albuquerque. It was much like Sibley's used to be back here. (They are also out of business.)

Looks like Dennis is doing great.

Out of milk again? Those mornings are always a bit of a challange. I usually look for toast when that happens. Or maybe leftover apple pie...

I'm always amazed at how high the prices are when a store is supposedly "going out of business." I think they just jack up the prices however high the discount is...it's ridiculous.

Sounds like it's a "crazy breakfast" morning to me. :)

Thanks for sharing your day. Dennis looks so cute in those glasses!
I've run out of milk before - so everyone gets toast for breaky!

I feel your no milk pain! I'm about to mix up some evaporated milk and pour it in the empty gallon jug. Shhhh! Maybe I can fool them.
Who made the quilt your puppies are napping on? It looks nice.

Just wanted to drop in and say hello. I have been following your blog for a few months. I can't wait to read it each day!

My son loves legos too. Have you tried Linking Logs with William? It might be easier for him to manipulate. My son can spend HOURS playing with them!

Christine~I had to check and see how Dennis's surgery went. He looks so good right after surgery. I am so glad to see that it went well and that he is back to his normal self quickly. I was bummed that not all the pictures of Dennis at the hospital and him in his gown would come up on my computer. I will have to check back later. Thanks for the update!!!

Gotta hate those kind of mornings...I've had them too. I try to keep cream of wheat or waffles on hand.

Caleb sleeping on the floor reminds me of my own boys. They sleep on the floor every night in the same room, instead of in their beds in their own rooms. I keep wondering when it will end...

5 pairs of shoes for a birthday list? She is a lover of shoes, just like many women I know. Unfortunately, shoes aren't cheap. I would love to have a few more pairs!

Don't feel bad about the milk thing. I probably run out of milk at least once a week in my house. LOL But usually get very creative for breakfast.

If you are an awful mom, I'm the world's worst!
I don't think 30% off is much of a bargain either. But then once they go to 50-75% off, there's nothing left but garbage!

Mrs. B said...

Oh yes....no milk mornings. We've had those too.

Christine, just as I have had to wean myself from sniffing gasoline at a station (love the smell!), or we try to keep our kids from too much salt on foods, I would urge Rachel to try to limit her burnt foods intake. I believe that burnt foods are carcinogenic, and since cancer runs in our family I definitely would learn more about the issue if I had a "burnt-a-holic" in the family. Not sure if this is one of those food scare messages that turned out to be false, so I may be wrong, but you may want to check it out.
