Needless to say my whole head hurt by the end of it....... even my eyelids were a bit numb.

Dennis is fascinated with glasses. He is always trying to put on these protective goggles and finally I bent them to fit around his ears. I had to hold his hand long enough for Anna to take a picture before he pulled them off only to try to put them back on. What a turkey!

Dennis is so stinkin' spoiled, it isn't funny........ but it is cute. The girls regularly take turns feeding him little pieces of crushed ice.

Wait a minute? Am I seeing right? Is that Annalyn changing a poopy diaper? Well, yes it is, and it is her very first one. With a little more practice, I think she will have Diaper Changing 101 down. While I do not in any way feel that it is any of my daughters' jobs to change their brother's diapers, I do believe that it is important for them to know how to, even at this age. It is the very beginnings of preparing them for motherhood someday right along with learning to cuddle him, feed him, get him dressed, and make him laugh. They all are great big sisters!

I made a huge pan of brownies the other day. William waited patiently with napkin in hand, for them to come out of the oven. Seriously.

Swim season is almost over, but when we have lots of company over, the kids don't mind the cold as much. Even John got in and had a great time with the kids.

Over the weekend, we made beef kebabs. They were simple and turned out great. MMmmm, yummy.

My friend Denise (and her kids) joined us for church Sunday morning and stayed for dinner. What's five more mouths to feed?

How crazy! Adam tried to transfer Caleb from his back to Joey's. I can't remember if they were successful or not, but no one got hurt.

One of the kids gave Dennis this hat. He loved wearing it until he tore it up.

Sometimes Adam and Caleb get into these goofy moods where they wrestle each other. Here is Caleb instigating Adam by trying to squish him on the couch. It worked.... enough said, but I broke it up before it got out of hand. For the first time ever, their horsing around ended on a good note, with neither of them getting hurt. I was proud of both of them for showing such self control.

Tonight, Andrew let me wiggle his very first loose tooth. How exciting. Me being overly excited for him to lose his first tooth, I tried to convince him to let me pull it out, but he just didn't think a tooth fairy gift was worth it--- yet. That's okay, he will pull it out or ask me to pull it out when he is ready.
Jonny has two warts on his elbow. Usually Grandma and Grandpa freeze it at their house, with it being no big deal. When I did it a week ago, he screamed and fought me, for no reason. I expressed how sad he made me feel like I was trying to hurt him on purpose. I let him know how I didn't think it was fair that he didn't act that way for Grandma and Grandpa. Well today when I asked if I could do it again, he let me, no problem. He was so brave, and cuddled while he cried a bit afterwards because it does sting to have a wart frozen. "I still love you Mommy, even if you fweeze my wart."
"Thanks Jonny." I let him fall asleep in our bed tonight.

That picture of William waiting for the brownies is too funny! Of course I don't move too far away from the oven myself when there are brownies to be had! :)
I can understand Andrew wanting to be in charge of his own teeth pulling. Brian is very independent - except for this weekend when Brad accidentally knocked his loose tooth out when helping with his shirt! Oops! :-)
Good that Annalyn and all the girls (boys too?) are learning to change diapers and care for baby Dennis. I learned when I was 8 or 9. I 'babysat' an infant and toddler (with mom's supervision). This experience helped my parents too, because when I was 'too old' to attend (over 10) the day care/nursery school we'd always gone to, and my parents still needed someone to watch us after school, the owner let me stay, no charge, in the nursery as a helper. They had about 20 toddlers and babies. With only 4 adults. (laws have probably changed now!) They needed the extra help. I fed babies, changed diapers, and supervised play. Good experience... and I 'covered' my own childcare expenses.
Is one of your in-laws a doctor that they have the stuff (forgot what it is) to freeze the warts?
I chuckled over your "What's 5 more for dinner?". You are so easy going and have such a good attitude. I'm sure company feels very welcome when visiting.
Is Connie your sister or SIL?
How irresponsible to take your child out of school to be your unpaid babysitter, especially when she's only 10 years old. Unbelievable.
I love your pictures, especially the one of William waiting for the brownies!
Hooray for Annalyn on changing her 1st poopie diaper!
Neat update! I love your really, really long dining table! Was that "special made?"
Have a great day!
What a beautiful family...love the waiting on brownies, the first really dirty diaper change and the happy to wear it, until he tore it up....
said so well.

I LOVED the picture of William waiting with his napkin by the oven door. Christine, don't you feed that poor boy?;) I can only imagine how spoiled the youngest of 11 gets. My kids were bad enough with Davin and there are only three of them to spoil him. (Sorry you had to get two fillings yesterday:(
I'd never let anyone touch my loose tooth! I'll worry it on my own, thank you! I guess that is the way I generally am about adult stuff like that, too.
It is so nice to see what a happy, full life Dennis has. Love, and fun.
I have to add here that I love all the photos! Your family is beautiful!
I too, would like to watch the brownies with napkin in hand! I bet they disappeared in seconds!
What in the world is with that anonymous comment? Brother! I have taken my kids out for various things from time to time. Tyler is missing Monday because he turned 18 and has to be fingerprinted for our adoption and it is a five hour trip each way!! He will miss Tues too because it is being combined with Jasmine's surgery follow up. She will miss two days also. I hate to have them miss that much but sometimes it can't be helped.
Maybe anonymous will watch the kids for you next time? If I lived near you I'd love to watch the kids ;o) You are so good about taking pictures. "Only" five more for dinner! lol What do you do to feed them all? I mean, what kind of meals do you eat, I saw the barbeque, yummy. Do you do one huge shopping a month, or shop weekly? Have you ever done "once a month cooking"? I love it, it helps cut down on dinner time every night.
Don't tell anonymous, but we are taking are kids out of school for FOUR days to go on a family vacation. Shhhhh.....(I don't want a mean comment on my blog)
Socially, emotionally, intellectually and any other ly you care to think of, Julia is more than able to miss a few hours of school. Heck, we used to take her dad and his brothers out of school for three days every year to extend our Thanksgiving visit to Oregon.
And we're taking our boys out for 5(!) days for a family cruise. We feel (as do the boys' teachers) that time spent with us and both sets of grandparents is WAY more important that a few days of their ABCs. Granted, ours are younger, but some things are simply more important, and family is one of them.
BTW, LOVE the brownie pic! :D
What lovely photos. That one of William is just so perfect! I imagine he is justified in sitting there, though, with so many siblings to grab those yummy brownies when they come out.
As for taking Julia out of school . . . good for you! It teaches her responsibility and gives her a treat, to boot! There`s nothing wrong with letting kids learn some responsibility, despite what certain anonymous people seem to think! And from the looks of it, I`d say you`re doing a great job of it.
LOL at the picture of William waiting for the brownies. My kids always hang around when I'm making desserts but I don't think I've ever had one pull up a stool and sit in front of the oven waiting for them to cook. He definitely has more patience than my lot.
Thanks for stopping by my blog the other week (you came in through Martha's blog...she's such a sweetie!)...it's been a few now...sorry, trying to get back into the swing of things after having the baby.
♥ I love the waiting around for brownies... Looks like a fun week! :)
Shad and I just laughed and laughed at William and the brownies, too! That is a great picture and story. I hope you put it in his scrap book!
